Kyrsten Sinema was the perfect Gen X representation because she abandoned all principles by her 35th birthday and dressed like Daria to assuage any guilt about it
You don't wanna start nothing with GenX.
We were raised on neglect, lead paint, lead gasoline, dense smog, smog alerts, CRT TVs with 36KV fly back transformers, ungrounded electrical, aluminum wiring, & hose water.
None of that killed us; so maybe think twice before bringing BS?
This reinforces my pet theory that Gen X can be neatly bifurcated into two sub generations based on the prevalence of lead gasoline and paint. Those born in the later 70s tend to identify way closer to people 10 years younger than them than 10 years older.
“please don’t throw negativity at me based on my generational label because being subject to that negativity is my sole load-bearing personality substitute”
Dude, stop being so worked up over dumb jokes, it's embarrassing. You're currently the definition of that 'crying behind a mask' wojak someone posted upthread.
It's just the internet, it's not that serious.
The main side effects of lead poisoning are cognitive decline, decreased intelligence, and bouts of pointless aggression.
Read these Gen X posts, and make of that what you will.
Good on ya for being able to deliver better for your kids than you had, but with childcare prices and housing prices being what there are, and then social safety net only getting further damaged, there’s definitely still latchkey kids growing up in America
A 2007 report published by The B.E. Journal of Economic Analysis & Policy, authored by Jessica Wolpaw Reyes of Amherst College, found that between 1992 and 2002 the phase-out of lead from gasoline in the U.S. "was responsible for approximately a 56% decline in violent crime".
I wrote that from my childhood experience.
No everyone had smog or smog alerts.
Not every kid had to repair a CRT if they wanted to have a TV set.
Not everyone learned about wiring.
Every aging gen-xer has that on their Facebook page though. Calm down Veronica, gen-x aren’t badasses they can’t even win a fight when they pick one with a restaurant manager.
I like how leaded gasoline and CRTs are the only things on that list that are unlikely to be part of kids’ lives anymore. Still plenty of buildings with aluminum wiring and lead paint on the baseboards, for ex
