As well they should. I'm so glad this is getting attention
President Biden and other Democrats are increasingly focusing their attacks on an aggressive right-wing agenda called Project 2025 that is being pushed by allies of presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump — prompting Trump and his team to lash out in recent days at supporters of the effort.

To me, Joe Biden is the “complete package” to run against Trump in that he is: (1) living; and (2) not Trump. Concededly, other potential candidates may also possess that combination of traits.

I will bang this drum forever: in THEY THOUGHT THEY WERE FREE: THE GERMANS, 1933-45 Milton Mayer interviewed 10 ordinary Germans after WW2 to learn how fascism took hold. There was never a moment when everyone woke up:
if you’re waiting for everyone around you to wake up, you’ll wait forever. this is how the people grinding our bones to make their bread WANT you to be. paralyzed, alienated & purposeless

And the foundation for that, for me, is that NONE OF US ARE FREE UNTIL ALL OF US ARE FREE. I hope it is for all of you too.

I was surprised how...strongly I felt about my country when Trump first started. But my patriotism is for what I believed America was as a child and what today as an adult I believe American SHOULD be and can be. Even if I could flee, which likely would be difficult...I will not. NO, YOU MOVE.
my friend asked the other day how i planned to cover the growing fascism here and i said “i guess continue writing about it til i’m sent to prison? lol” it was a flip thing to say but it’s hard to imagine ever stopping. or fleeing. i’m feeling not quite patriotic, but protective of this country.

(My personal deal on the authors who turn out to be terrible is that I can't knowingly do things that enrich them once I know they're bad, but I can buy their books from used book sales or the like. It's where I got to reading Orson Scott Card as a gay teen, and have applied several times since.)

Given the questionable media origin, I'm waiting to see if that is true, just the sexual relationship. The imbalance of power, age, etc. esp. with a live in nanny, someone you're paying to be in your household is not okay in my book. I think at it's BEST it's super fucking gross and horrible.

The thing I keep coming back to on this post is “bloodless if the left allows it to be.” He’s not saying “bloodless if the left doesn’t fire the first shot.” He’s saying “bloodless unless the left wins.” He’s advocating for violence if he doesn’t like the outcome of the election.
That Heritage Foundation statement threatening a violent revolution against the left = that moment in a movie in which the forces of evil loudly announce their evil plans. except in real life, unlike in a movie, most normal people don’t even realize this has *happened* (which is our job).

The increasingly brazen endorsement of political violence by the GOP is a tremendously dangerous development that warrants high-profile media coverage.
NEWS --> Mark Robinson, the MAGA extremist GOP nominee for governor in North Carolina, appeared to endorse political violence against unnamed foes in a recent speech. "Some folks need killing!" he shouted. "It's a matter of necessity!" Video and story here: newrepublic.com/article/1834...

I also think an uncomfortable truth we're all going to face is that a lot of people are just fine with fascism, provided their lives don't change too much. And in fact some secretly welcome it thinking they'll benefit or if not the 'right' ppl will suffer.

Another thing to think about re the elite revolt against Biden is he *is* the president who funded the tax police and ended the cozy wink, nudge relationship on dodging the taxes they claim to support.

What most people miss, and it's because most people are pretty ignorant of human history as a whole, is that.... no, killing doesn't make you the bad guy. Killing another human sucks, killing sucks. It's the worst thing we can do, take away someone's literal existence. It should be treated with
the whole ‘actually, killing the villain makes us just as bad as him’ trope had done incomprehensible damage to society and i’m not kidding

the terrible awful respect such an act demands. But no, it doesn't make one the villain or 'as bad as them' What does, is when we use evil's methodologies; genocide, oppression, hate, punishing an entire group/family, terror, etc. This is too nuanced for many people, sadly.
