Thousands in the streets of Paris celebrating and cheering “no pasaran” or "They will not pass” as the far right falls out n France’s election. Just absolutely amazing scenes tonight across France as they fight the fascists back. Now it’s our time to be brave and come together to for a united front.

One of the women in this story has asked her landlord for proper insulation and a heatpump, which would be cheaper, but doesn't want to be seen as 'complaining' because she can't risk being homeless with her kids 😡

I will bang this drum forever: in THEY THOUGHT THEY WERE FREE: THE GERMANS, 1933-45 Milton Mayer interviewed 10 ordinary Germans after WW2 to learn how fascism took hold. There was never a moment when everyone woke up:

Simple rule of thumb: if super rich pricks need it, want it, or benefit from it (roads, private education, privatised health, lower taxes, etc.) then this government will find the money for it. Otherwise, you can whistle in the wind until your teeth fall out #nzpol

Something big we haven’t fully processed or reflected on is the massive amount of time and effort people around NZ have contributed towards long term curriculum changes, science system changes and local govt reforms, amongst others. All rejected by current govt. The deep engagement meant nothing.

It took 14 years to destroy Britain. It won’t be repaired in five minutes. It will take years of economic stability to afford the infrastructure repairs needed across a range of public services. While we’re waiting, we need to fight off the right wing. So roll your sleeves up.
