I watched a few clips, but not the entire thing. I've only read four questions on the transcript--
* Biden's speech was noticeably worse in the beginning. There's stumbles, mis-spoken words, and broken sentences. He was fine later on. And it wasn't about anger or laundry lists, he just improved
* Trump's answers were completely disconnected from the question. It wasn't just the lies, it was that he wouldn't answer the very simple question that he was given. A question about abortion turned into a rant on immigrants. A question about Russia became an answer about Iran. It was incoherent
* I had read commentary that Trump lied a lot, so was prepared to be angry about that. But, his refusal to stay anywhere near a topic is something that is very easy for people to notice. People joke about undecided voters watching the debates, but they do care about the answers.
I doubt this. Debating Trump is like a scientist debating a creationist - not coming from the same basis, one uses logic and facts that the other does not need in order to be adored by supporters. It’d be the same talking past each other to already decided spectators. Utterly Pointless exercise.
The internet is very broke brained about this stuff, but I don't think debates actually do anything and haven't for a while and twitter is not indicative of what people are actually thinking in the general public.
Biden is overprepped & he's swinging at everything, which is a huge mistake, because he's triggering his speech impediment by trying to include a fusillade of talking points every time he talks. He does better when he slows down & focuses on a couple key points.
Biden had too many hours of prep is my guess.
When I train new people at work, I'm talking for hours for just two days and I feel my throat wearing away. And I'm not 81 years old
Either way, it's not a good night for America. Biden sick and over-prepared, and Trump completely unchecked and unhinged. The news side can't handle this, print or television.
