As a side note, this is John McEntee, Trump's Director of White House Personnel and the primary architect of Project 2025. On Tik Tok he said he gives counterfeit bills to homeless people so they will be arrested when they go to spend them.

If you subscribe to a newsletter but later change your mind, just email the author and ask for a refund. Most of us will give you one. Really tired of people canceling by filing "fraud" disputes with their banks over a $6 charge. I get charged $15 for each dispute, whether I win or lose.

Here’s why Biden is toast: in this situation, any candidate in Biden’s shoes would do a series of events (interviews, press conferences, town halls, etc) to prove they are up to the task. But, Biden isn’t doing that because he can’t. He’s not capable—and that’s not going to change.

Do the Democratic elite believe that 45 is an existential threat? If they actually do, what would you expect to see right now? Are you seeing that?

THE sentence of the day: A Macronist incumbent in the Marseille region came in 3rd in her seat. She just dropped out to support the left. She said, about why she's maneuvering to block the far-right: "Defeats happen, but you can never recover from dishonor."

Maybe I'm super fucked up but having the supreme court declare that J6 was fine and good actually feels worse than J6

This is the ball game folks, the authoritarian green light laid out in advance. Congress will not impeach Trump. And SCOTUS now blesses him with extraordinary latitude to do whatever he wants in power. A second administration will not be constrained by Congress, the courts, the bureaucracy or law.
Trump, who tried to overthrow an election, campaigned persistently for his fellow party members to grant him absolute immunity for his misdeeds in office. And they did. If you can't distinguish between "energy in the executive" and a constitutional crime spree, you've given up on US democracy.

Homeless people can be arrested for sleeping, Presidents cannot be arrested for rampant graft and corruption done while in office. There is no clearer a summary of "conservative 'law and order'" than this.

"Expand the court" has gone from radical solution to the most exceptionally moderate option on the table.

Legal pundits over time Dec 1, 2023: SCOTUS will reject Trump's appeal on an expedited basis Dec 22, 2023: They are letting the DC Circuit handle it to not even dignify it. Feb 28, 2024: The are taking the case on appeal but will completely reject the claim. June: SCOTUS says Trump is your God/King

UPDATE: What is happening in France today? Left candidates who came in 3rd are dropping out of the runoffs to block the far-right. *Many* Macronists, including incumbents, are doing the same when they came in third. But... many said they won't. (I'd say about half/half right now? Deadline tmrw.)

Trump "re-truthed" this meme yesterday. But look, whatever you do, don't call it fascism.

There are MUCH more important implications for the overturning of the Chevron doctrine. But in my aviation world it's gonna be nuts. You have any idea how many hair brained homebuilt aircraft/spacecraft the FAA is keeping grounded? Cuz you're about to find out.

I think the point was that she is clearly not “uniquely unelectable”….

Democracy isn't picking the person 81 million people voted for to take over if Biden couldn't go, it's having a bunch of random delegates chosen in an uncontested primary pick someone by fiat
Democrats are phrasing this election as a fight for democracy. But Biden stepping down would anoint his hand-picked successor. That is not democracy. It is not even what a VP is for. Democracy is a brokered convention. Sure, that's messy, but it has always been. When did we become afraid of that?

And there it is. The Olympic team: Simone Biles, Jordan Chiles, Suni Lee, Jade Carey, Hezly Rivera. Alternates: Joscelyn Roberson and Leanne Wong.

Come off it. “his ads” … I’m an independent journalist, 100% of my income comes from my newsletter, and I published seven items last week. If my reminding you occasionally that the free content you want costs money to make renders the content worthless to you, boy, I don’t know what to say.

This criticism is so confusing to me bc if the nytimes suggests he drops out trump raises another 50 mil. His relationship to the media is different.

but this is not hillary's emails. we have to be able to recognize the differences between two very different situations. the fact that they overreacted 8 years ago does not mean this reaction and fear is inappropriate.

I don’t think replacing the nominee comes without costs, of course, but people who are being derisive about the panic people feel are very confusing to me lol

Everyone seems very convinced that was one low point and now everything will be fine which is bananas, and every day we wait it gets harder and harder to do this.
