Not sure why the link has stopped working for the moment, but here's the main text

It's an act of obeisance for Trump: probably won't make it out of the House and has no chance of even being introduced in the Senate.
Avatar
maybe Chuck SHOULD introduce it in the Senate. And then let the Republicans come to the floor, one by one, to try to defend it there too, as well as the House Republicans.

The link works for me 🤷‍♂️

I'm amused by the suggestion that there are still moderate republicans.

How do we make the GOP (more) afraid of injustice and poor leadership than they are of Trump? And don’t you dare say “at the ballot box” because that clearly isn’t fckn working.

Someone again please explain why Dems are propping up this guy

(The lawyers are pointing out that moving a state case to federal court would NOT actually let Trump pardon himself)
Avatar
Yeah. And conservative lawyers said states abortion bans have exemptions for the mothers life.
Avatar
But friendly Judge Cannon's will move at a pace that gives geologists a nosebleed
Avatar
Trump does not care what the law is he will pardon himself anyway.
Avatar
While I have no idea myself, I’d bet the flag wavers at SCOTUS might weigh in with a word or two.
Avatar
I like how a federal courthouse now seems like the “safe zone” in a game of tag to them.
Avatar
The stuff House Republicans are doing is so stupid that it's not worth thinking of a clever insult to their intelligence, since they would not understand an adequate insult.
Avatar
I feel confident that six out of nine Supreme Court Justices will disagree with the lawyers here on Bluesky.
Avatar
If you are a Republican, you are voting for government-funded cover ups for rich people's crimes. Disgusting
Avatar
they know that, its intentional they LIKE those rich people and think the crimes are bogus; they see this sort of legislation as righteous hamstringing of a corrupt system unfairly attacking their heroes
Avatar
(most of) the legislators themselves know its just a stunt but gop voters eat this shit up and their vote counts just as much as anyone elses even if they are venal, ignorant, short sighted, and motivated primarily by manufactured greviances
Avatar
except if you’re a woman 😉(martha stewart, elizabeth holmes…)
Avatar
To them, white collar crimes are fake and besides we're all Temporarily Embarrassed Millionaires anyway

From the party of sTAAAAaaaaaaatEeSsss RIIIGGHHHTTTSSSsssss

So if i have this right? ...Jim Jordan's "stop the weaponization of the federal government" sham hearings are FOR the purpose of weaponizing the Federal government so The convicted Felon that the GOP is currently enjoying sucking off, can get away with committing crimes.
Avatar
It would not have occurred to me that a president could pardon a conviction in federal court for a state crime. I need to think about this.
Avatar
Yeah, seems bogus. Already regretting my phrasing.
Avatar
It says it in the article, so your phrasing wasn't the issue.
Avatar
I mean that could be their intent, it wouldn't be the first time they've done something that didn't work legally Or the eighteenth time Or the two hundredth
Avatar
No, you could be right! I haven’t researched it. There is already a federal officer removal statute so there might be law on this
Avatar
Party of law and ordure
Avatar
The only way this would pass is if they win the presidency AND both chambers. Pretty sure Biden would veto it.
Avatar
If they win all 3 this would be the least of our problems.
Avatar
ah, the party of states' rights...
Avatar
This would not let him pardon himself
Avatar
The No More Political Prosecutions Act that Speaker Johnson is trying to get passed now is HR 2553, a/k/a The Donald J. Trump Relief Act, which has already been reported out of committee. You can find all the details in the report: www.congress.gov/118/crpt/hrp...
Avatar
(It simply expands the set of cases subject to the current removal act. Thus, it does not make state crimes pardonable by the president.)
Avatar
The canonical example of when federal criminal removal is a good idea was the case of a U.S. Marshal who, while assigned as a SCOTUS justice's bodyguard, shot and killed a maniac who attacked the justice, then was charged by the People of California with murder. ...

Avatar
Because the maniac was a former California Supreme Court Chief Justice, the U.S. Marshal was fortunate to be able to get his fate decided by the federal courts, which exonerated him. (In re Neagle, 135 US 1 (1889)) tile.loc.gov/storage-serv...

Frankly I doubt Biden would sign such a bill
Avatar
An actual separate justice system for presidents. No doubt just what The Founders intended.

What do you mean? States rights exist to serve the Money Power and the Southern gentry - they seem to be working as designed.
Avatar
Now, I'm not very smart, but wouldn't the Federal Government just arbitrarily stepping in to move state-level cases to a Federal Court be a major violation of the 10th Amendment?
Avatar
Yes, but you’d have to get the current SCOTUS to agree.

We don't need to wonder what happened to the secret files in David Pecker and Jeffrey Epstein's vaults, do we?
