My novel is not part of an "asexual trend." If asexuality appears more frequently in recent books, it's a market correction as forces of erasure lose a little of their hegemony, and people who needed these stories finally get them. Our existence isn't a trend.

Working on reading through my classroom library, and I just finished "Maniac Magee" by Jerry Spinelli. How has this book escaped my notice? It is an absolute gem.

There's a lot more information and wisdom about lettering and comic book scripts in the thread, including stuff I didn't know.

I wrote comics scripts in FinalDraft -- I used to write them in MSWord, but having FinalDraft switch the tabs and margins back and forth automatically as I write is so convenient. I did customize the format so it looks more like my old Word format than a screenplay, but that's just shoving...

The Baby on the Fire Escape by Julie Phillips contains an Ursula K. Le Guin anecdote I feel I should have encountered before, but no, I'd never heard this one. (It's a brilliant book, though I must warn you it might induce rage on behalf of those who were forced to navigate those unforgiving times.)

I think the historical context on this is really important to understand and promote because the reality is that there's no inherent aversion to trans people in our culture, it's one that's been cultivated by explicit right wing propaganda as another way to divide the working class against itself

This wasn't unheard of at the time, the first public trans surgery in America was done as "Former GI now smoking hot!"
