Are there jobs out there that don't involve interacting with people in any way? Asking for a friend

In all seriousness: the very idea that someone can take highly classified documents, store them in a public place, defy any number of requests, subpoenas, etc., and then face NO CONSEQUENCES AT ALL is genuinely shocking, and should terrify anyone who cares about national security.

Before it was Jamelle, it was Tressie, before it was Tressie, it was all those black folks y’all chased away before this app was even fully open to the public. I can’t PAY a lot of my friends to try BlueSky because of what they’ve heard about y’all. It’s not a person; it’s a proven pattern.

Project 2025 is a comprehensive plan by former and likely future leaders of a Trump administration to remake America in a conservative mold while dramatically expanding presidential power and allowing Trump to use it to go after his critics. Here’s what it entails and how it could reshape America.
What is Project 2025?www.washingtonpost.com It’s a blueprint for what a second Trump administration could look like, dreamed up by his allies and former aides. Here are some of the proposals.

this is literally evidence that he is still sharp. people with significant cognitive decline don’t catch flubs like this in real time. people with dementia don’t catch them at all. it’s like calling someone feeble who tripped over a curb and regained their balance without falling.
Now everyone--The Times and, sorry to say, MSNBC--is noting every missed syllable. The man has a stutter. I don't stutter but I am a mushmouth who speaks too fast and slurs words. I've had to overcome fear of public speaking. I have empathy for Biden. The press has empathy for no one (but Trump).

The IRS reported Wednesday that it has collected $1 billion in taxes and penalties owed by hundreds of wealthy households who accumulated past-due tax debts for years while IRS enforcement dwindled.

I’m not sure what the surefire way to win the election is but I am fairly certain a sure way to lose is to spend the next 4 months with Democrats talking about how much their candidate sucks and how we’re doomed

Ah, FB memories serving up some winners. This is what an itemized $1,330,000 NICU hospital bill looks like (only 96 days to get there). The apple is there for scale. Here’s why I share it. Too many ppl don’t know abt lifetime caps and pre-existing bans. Bc the STILL-VULNERABLE ACA banned them.

A couple of years ago, @mskellymhayes.bsky.social tweeted something like, "work the problem like someone who wants to find a solution, not like someone who wants to have been right," and I've thought about it so much since. It's harder than it should be but also the only way forward.

Biden was never my preferred D candidate for president but his presidency has outperformed my expectations on policy and competence. The Democratic Party, like our national democracy, is a geriatric institution, but I prefer it to alt-right white-nationalist fossil fascism.

"What the report finds is that Biden held on to 94% of the people who said they would support him before the debate. For Trump, 86% of people who said they would support him before the debate said they would do so after the debate." news.northeastern.edu/2024/07/09/b...
Biden's poor debate performance had almost no impact on voter preference, new report saysnews.northeastern.edu A new report shows that despite Biden’s debate performance – poor as it may have been – voter preferences haven't been impacted.

I have re-read chapter 14 of project 2025 for work and i'm genuinely going to go take a benzo now "Add targeted time limits [on Medicaid] or lifetime caps on [Medicaid] benefits to disincentivize permanent dependence"

Just remember: the fascists do not have to win. It is not inevitable.

The first concern of any action we take at this point in history is, "Does this help Trump and thus fascism?" Not "How can I feel better right now?" or "How can I reshape politics with my fantasy?" or "This is how I show everyone it's their fault, not mine." Anything else serves Trump.
People are asking us to take this gamble in exchange for their fantasy of how it works as we face the greatest threat to America's faulty representative democracy in our history. Trump has argued that he can essentially operate as a king in the Supreme Court, and the GOP majority agrees to degrees.

I sent this email to Snopes about their ridiculous Charlottesville "fact check" on Friday, followed up yesterday, no response. So sharing it here as an open letter. Apologies for the typos, I wrote it pretty fast. @brooklynmarie.bsky.social

Looking for help: I'm interested in talking to interviewers or field directors for public opinion surveys in the 50s, 60s or 70s, particular people of color. I would be especially interested to talk to anyone who was involved on any level with the Data Black or GE Trendex surveys.

Some reduce the 2024 campaign to a contest between two old men, but it's a choice of two slates of federal appointees who'll impact your life in a million ways. Biden has staffed executive agencies with excellent choices who are doing good work. Trump will empower an army of Stephen Millers.
Under current law, you really couldn’t do much better than Biden’s FTC and NRLB. New Deal shit.
