Texas' abortion ban prevented doctors from providing an abortion to a woman with a failing pregnancy—forcing her to instead pass the pregnancy on her own. She spent days in agony, vomiting and bleeding, until she passed out from blood loss and nearly died. www.dallasnews.com/news/public-...

"I love Texas?!" That's what the husband said after that horrible ordeal?! Bruh.

Like a Cybertruck owner who says "I still love this truck" after the autopilot flattened his 2 year old kid.

Tbf, there was a BUT after he said that.

Maybe you're just being sarcastic, but honestly why give this guy any more s*** than he already has to deal with in his life right now. It's not funny. It's just hard.

I mean, maybe he’s trying to head off being attacked by Texan sickos

People, he shared a lot of his journey on Twitter and it's been absolutely agonizing. People have piled on to him & his wife. It's horrible. Don't add to it.

no (rich)white man was in danger, therefore, no problem.

Thank you for sharing this very important story! But I urge caution with this kind of framing. A woman has value and her life is worth saving even if she is not already a mother.

It won't let me read it, but I did get the gist already.

GOP ARE CRUEL, criminal, inhumane ppl

Why is the headline photo of her dude? Why are we leading these stories with MEN? He's not the one who almost died. (Yes, yes, I know, but FFS).

In the NBC news segment I saw about this, the wife said she didn’t want to be named or give statements or appear on camera. Totally understandable given the ordeal she’s going through.
Avatar
Totally makes sense, and we need the dudes (who have dismissed repro rights for DECADES as "icky") to get involved. My ancient feminist heart is just mad about it ... especially since it's probably effective.

Holy crap I just saw this on CBS and was thoroughly disgusted. We MUST find a way around these “laws”
Avatar
I saw it too. It was heartbreaking. They need to change the law and make it clearer for hospitals and doctors to follow. Ultimately legislators aren’t doctors and shouldn’t have a say in woman’s medical care.
Avatar
This is EXACTLY as clear as they want it to be. The goal is to ban abortion, but this way they get to blame the doctors because the "law allows*" it. *Local DA may prosecute anyway, good luck with the felony trial!
Avatar
Exactly. The pattern of conservatives creating unclear laws on issues like censorship and abortion is to misdirect blame, all the while using the threat of prosecution to make doctors afraid to do anything. All the power, no responsibility.

The entire state is a depraved indifference to human life.

A feature, not a bug. It's working as designed.

Texas has gotten to be sadistic with women. Too bad the people are letting a few in the legislature get by with it. You know most of Texas doesn't agree with this, but they take it without much protest. It lets us see how Putin got power.
Avatar
If they don't agree with it, they have to figure out how to vote different people into power in TX. Passively serves the oppressor.
Barbarism. Women are being denied modern medical care to the detrimient of their health and lives. The cruelty that women facing pregnancy complications now face is appalling and must stop. Where are the social movements leading the charge against this?
Avatar
They are already on it Research abortion assistance groups, for example

[whispers} "vaaasectooommmiessss" Vasectomies are out-patient procedures that can be reversed. The ONLY problem with vasectomies is that it puts the responsibility on the man.
Avatar
you can never take the right-wing argument seriously. it's pretty much always disingenuous
Avatar
Disingenuous because it's built on contradiction on top of contradiction - basically "making money" is the only logical end that ties things together. And that's what makes their policies so dangerous.
Abortion is also health care for women having babies that they want.

Leopards and people's faces 🤷‍♂️
Avatar
That's weird, I didn't see the part in the article where it discussed the couples' voting history, a thing I like to consider before deciding if a woman deserves to bleed to death on her bathroom floor

And that's why you know how they voted.

I didn't realize it can take a WEEK to know whether each dose of a medical abortions has worked or not. This lady took three doses, so in theory she should have taken three WEEKS.
