Hey so remember Eric Ciotti? The nutbag President of Les Republicans who got thrown out of the party for praising the SS and then locked himself in the party headquarters to stop anyone from kicking him out? He just got elected as a fascist because a liberal in 3rd place in Nice didn’t drop out

Not possible. That’s not even a majority unless they also get LR in there and that coalition will not hold under any circumstances

Ok based on the deviation from the exits I take this back. A Macronist-RN coalition would have a majority but still wouldn’t form

There was mutual dropping out from liberals in a lot of instances as well. Not all, but most. Remarkable cooperation

Please note the wildly incorrect polling in France. No matter what the cacophony of pundits keep saying, polls are not predictive, and are never the end of the story. Organizing, volunteering, engaging in conversation, and direct action are effective tools. Let's use them here too.
BREAKING NEWS: Voters turned out in numbers not seen in decades to stop the far-right National Rally from taking power in the French National Assembly. Polls predicted a first-place finish for National Rally, which instead came in third in initial results as polling stations closed.

JUST IN: Polls closed in France. Exit polls show surprise: —Left coalition (New Popular Front) projected first. (!) —Far-right (RN) has lost its bid to take power. Anti-RN front appears to have worked very well. —No bloc close to majority. Follow this 🧵 for results and more:

Spoke to a french friend of mine who thinks this won’t happen, Macron will appoint a liberal PM who won’t have confidence of parliament, and will govern with severely reduced power unless they get votes on specific things or change their mind and form a coalition

It’s a fair one to people who insist that a local region of support should get a party like PC almost as many seats as Reform, on the idea that they have concentrated support in one region of the country.
