North Carolina republicans are trying to remove the only Black woman on the state's Supreme Court after she spoke out about racial bias in her courtroom
In the very long list of things America suffers from, the sheer size + nearly non-existent public transit outside of major cities is one of the more insidious.
It reduces our impact to smaller, affordable, local protests (for one.)
A million protesters, scattered over 3.79 million square miles.
I did that, even voting for my conservadem NCGA rep over the Libertarian who lives in my building even though the D ignores my part of the district. Didn't work out.
Then there's HD-112 whose GA rep switched sides...
They are also trying to redraw district maps that remove the district of a congressman who is progressive. They are old, bigoted, narrow-minded church prunes and they disgust me.
She went out of her way to say she didn’t think that this was the result of conscious bias, but “we all have implicit biases.”
these things are known, arguing against them makes them no less real. of course, the goal is fear and intimidation, not understanding.
North Carolina as a whole leans Democrat. The state GOP (undoubtedly with help from national) has been rigging the districts and suppressing "Blue" voters for a while, and they've been succeeding.
They want to oust this Justice and put one of their own up on their Court before the next election.
Would like for my state to be in the news for something good for once but since the GOP is currently running unopposed here and we have an insane Lt Gov gunning to be governor, I can’t say I’ll see a positive outcome any time soon.
That was Tennessee, though I can understand the confusion.
As for the issue in general... wow. Just wow. Were the robes in the wash when you announced this, guys?
