sort of half convinced swapping out Harris would be a marginal increase in Dem chances, but I am extremely sure that being stuck in this discourse for the rest of the campaign would be ruinous
the times continues its vigorous campaign to end democracy. literally the same playbook they ran in 2016 with the emails.
we're so fucked. i'm existentially depressed.
the other thing though is that the NYT would FOR SURE come up with some anti-Harris narrative and beat it to absolute death for the rest of the campaign

oh my god the editors note
why are you even employed as an editor? part of your job is to *not* publish drivel that’ll require an editors note like that
(The zombified husk of) Newsweek is years ahead of you.
Love the editors note acknoledging that the article is being used as a tool of racist birtherism, but pretending that wasn't the entire point.

Opinion | Can Our Nation Survive Another Foreign Born Sleeper Agent President And When Will Kamala Devi Harris Come Clean About Her Secret Agenda? By: Peter Wehner
I feel like it would be more self-important than this. Like they’d drag her over the coals for not listening to them sooner and ousting Biden when they first started spinning the “he’s old” bit.
the right’s already primed to hate her because she’s a woman of color. and I remember how much the left inveighed against Kamala-the-cop. so she’d have it hard from both directions
I hate speaking this into existence - but they probably will anyways. They've been beating the 'he's old' schtick, the next will be 'what if he dies...' and you know what kind of traction that's going to get.
It’s not healthy to have a blistering contempt for the biggest ostensible journalism outlet in America but there is no other posture a thinking person can take
I disagree, Kamala would be able to respond in real time to Trump/NYT bullshit. It is understated how important it is for a president to address the public. This is why AMLO and FDR were so effective.
yeah or she might do a sit-down with them to get Sulzberger on her side, i kind of thought it was funny when Biden snubbed them but now I think it's because he wasn't up to it
There's probably truth in this, although there probably isn't enough time for the political media to settle on a coherent message against Harris and blast it out consistently enough for it to trickle down to the average American voter.
