One thing you can't say about the 6 justice majority is that they can't imagine or think a hypothetical parade of horribles won't happen. That's not this case. The wolf is at the door. The litigant in this case is the person who already was president, attempted a coup and is a career criminal.

Trump will not stop pushing if you give him a slap on the wrist; he will push as far as he can possibly go. We've already seen this in action when the House failed to impeach him over the Mueller report and he immediately embarked on extorting Ukraine

I really cannot emphasize how catastrophically bad the Court's ruling was. I do my best not to exaggerate about these kinds of things but I am still kind of in shock

Skeptics will disagree, but I believe John Roberts is an institutionalist. It's just that the only institutions he cares about preserving are the Republican Party and the plutocracy.

Biden announced that he won’t use the absolute power he was just given by the Supreme Court. If the president was a Republican, the arrests of his political rivals would have happened yesterday. We don’t want to be like them, I get it. But announcing this is a bad idea. Let them be afraid.

Just a reminder JD Vance is just as evil as Trump.

For 50 years conservatives have told me that Americans need weapons to be able to fight back against a tyrannical government. Now today, the Supreme Court engages in actual tyranny, and there is not a peep from those same defenders of the 2nd Amendment.

Relatively boring until they stage executions in the town square. Stops being boring then.

Living under authoritarian regimes is both relatively boring and normal AND incredibly corrosive to the human soul. These things can absolutely co-exist. This is why everyone needs to resist authoritarians, even people who privately assume they’ll be just fine.
