Hey it's me, Sonic the Hedgehog! Did you know you don't have to write every thought you have on the computer? That's right - believe it or not there are many cases where the thrill of likes and reposts do not outweigh the potential real world consequences, regardless of how unlikely they are!

The NYT, the most influential paper in the country, just ran an Op Ed called 'Why I Don't Vote' by a guy who votes. It's that simple. The NYT is a farce. You cannot trust anything they print.

Happy 4 of July everyone, where we celebrate America throwing of the yoke of an insane King. Sotomayor: "The relationship between the President and the people he serves has shifted irrevocably. In every use of official power, the President is now a king above the law. "

I'm a doctor now. That feels real weird. I've made jokes for a couple years about being an expert in space dust but now I'm actually certifiably an expert in star clusters (and the dust around them). Now to find a job.

If I opened up free portfolio reviews for marginalized writers looking to get into writing for Paizo, would people be interested? BIPOC would be prioritized. I can't get you jobs at Paizo, just help you with your skills. I have a background in theater education, so I have experience giving feedback.

Went to the ER yesterday for pain in my lower right side. CT found inflammation near my appendix, caught it early enough to maybe avoid surgery. An hour of antibiotics later my IV infiltrates. One moment the nurse is fixing it, the next there's 8 people over me asking if I know where I am...

I am an adult who is paid for my expertise and skills, not for my time, and if a manager or organization can’t understand that and insists on clock watching, it’s not worth working for them.

I made this Pride flag using only NASA images and our team thought it would be cool to share on social (I work on the NASA heliophysics communications team), but it's getting all sorts of hate on the bird app and Fbook. Thought y'all might be more appreciative of it here. ☺️🏳️‍🌈💖

The dissertation is now finished, with a day to spare before the deadline. Maybe I'll go outside and see what this 'sunlight' stuff is that everyone is telling me about.

The dissertation is getting dangerously close to being complete (rough draft). Still have 3 weeks left to work on it. 112 pages so far. Chapter 1: 100% Chapter 2: 100% Chapter 3: 95% Chapter 4: 90% (real messy) Chapter 5: 90% Appendix A: 100% Appendix B: 100% Appendix C: 100% I'm tired.

In ‘14, a NY Daily News photog heard about the death of Eric Garner on police radio transmissions. He rushed out and found the guy who took the video. Now, the NYPD is moving to encrypt all radio transmissions. The @nydnunion.bsky.social stands behind a bill to keep those transmissions public.

Good news: The world is making progress on climate change. Bad news: We are still far off where we need to be. Scientists say that the impacts of climate change at 2.7 degrees are significantly worse than 1.5 degrees. Every bit of warming matters. We need to do so much more!

Latest results on H_0 from Wendy Freedman using #JWST: local measurement gives 69.1 +/- 1.5 km/s/Mpc, which is fully consistent with CMB value. If this is correct, there is no Hubble tension and no need for new physics. This is the latest, but surely not last, update on this topic! 🧪
