Fyi to journalists: Hillbilly Elegy is not about the brave nobility of rural poor/working class people. It’s deeply insulting to rural poor people - presenting them as lazy addicts who rely on welfare instead of working. The book is about how amazing Vance was to escape that backwards culture.

Honestly something I take great solace in is the fact that the republicans have gotten really good at going off half-cocked on everything. Jan 6th fell through because there was no planning, project 2025 was made public with more than enough time for people to coalition build.

The authors of the Project 2025 document I think correctly understand that their opponents are a coalition of diverse interests and sat down to write a guiding document in which we could all logroll our diverse interests into "Yeah, we gotta stop this"
