Every Zepplin song covered by Heart.
Other than Hurt by Johnny Cash and any version of The Sound of Silence, what are your favorite cover versions of famous songs?

I am wearing cargo shorts and a Weyland-Yutani T-shirt and I am WAY cooler than this.
Am I cooler than the least cool thing imaginable? Yeah, probably.

Remember the old platform shooters when you got to the final boss and you could tell where the vulnerable spot was because it would start flashing when hit? Project 2025 is Trump's vulnerable spot. Hit it every day from now to November.

There's a whole dimwitted genre of right-winger memes which are just "I will shoot strangers" but dressed up as bad puns and I wish I could get them to understand that they just make them look cowardly and paranoid instead of clever or tough.

We need more, but credit where due: both The Nation (June 2024 issue) and Boston Review have run a breakdown of the Project 2025 “Mandate for Leadership” document. Media Matters, too. Lots of good work going on digesting this. www.bostonreview.net/articles/ins... www.mediamatters.org/project-2025
Where are the columnists who are experts in specific fields, breaking down what the Heritage Foundation + Trump want to do to each individual federal agency? E.g. I read the section dedicated to our intelligence agencies, and had to stop, since I was starting to feel a little nauseous.

Honestly, this is one of the primary reasons I doubt the existence of a just and all-powerful God. But hey, God - feel free to prove me wrong anytime!
I for one am still Thoughts and Prayersing for Trump to have a medical event. It’s fairly likely!

Seriously, I’m half Biden’s age and I decided when I was 35 that I wouldn’t be going to things that started after 8 pm. The morning people are cranky and the staff are exhausted. And I’m a night owl who works second shift by preference and for the good of my clients.
Trump’s public schedule showed that on most days, he worked (“worked”), like three hours a day. And this isn’t even a “Biden can’t work late at night” issue. It’s a Biden is pulling back on SCHEDULED EVENTS that start after 8pm, which is actually a good idea for most people.

It feels like journalistic gaslighting at this point
I have no idea the best path re Biden but I do know a solid week straight of “Biden Old” and “Rich Dems Worried” above-the-fold stories are *obscene* in the face of SCOTUS using the Constitution to wipe their asses purely in the service of reinstating a felon rapist as president. Crazy-making shit.

Anybody else noticed that Uber's mapping algorithm, while never excellent, has gotten demonstrably worse this past year?

This is the explicit goal of an astonishing amount of paid (and paid for!) propaganda out there. If you're feeling voting doesn't matter, maybe consider why it is so many people are spending so much money, time, effort and ad space trying to convince you not to.

As far as I'm concerned anyone telling people not to vote, in this election or any other, is doing for malign purposes, and the only correct response is "Well now I am going to vote EVEN HARDER."
see also the posts floating around pointing out that the author of that piece has voted in the last few elections according to voter records

just watched 74 people speaking at least a dozen different languages become american citizens in a ceremony at monticello, where the speakers were themselves children of immigrants. inspiring stuff and a vivid illustration of what reactionaries want to snuff out

Like remembering that before unions, a lot of folks worked 6 or 7 days a week, it's worth remembering that before environmental movements, the air and water in a lot of places were fucking gross. Left to their own devices, companies just straight-up poisoned people. They will again if we let them.
It's worth googling the Great Smog of London to see how far we've come. Images like this from the 1950s. It was caused in part from burning coal

It's like that scene at the end of the movie, where the villain is crackling all over with unholy power, mocks the hero's naive confidence in the power of friendship and loyalty. We just need Han and Chewie to fly out of the sun and blast the motherfucker. Cross your fingers...

I wish I’d thought of this line back in the 80s, when it was moms trading urban legends over a massive interstate game of Telephone.
I came to my 14 year old with a concern about social media. He literally took his glasses off, rubbed his temples, and asked: “what have the moms on the internet said now?” 😯🫤😆

Just a reminder: all this would *not* have happened, but for Joe Biden and his administration.
On Independence Day, note our progress towards energy independence & a sustainable future for generations ahead. Thanks to 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure & 2022 Inflation Reduction laws, U.S. companies are accelerating in grid batteries to make solar+wind scalable. That's not all...

I've gone through this with multiple family members and friends and on every occasion one of the first things to go was skill with numbers. So when President Biden came out without notes or a teleprompter and accurately cited statistic after statistic, I really thought that would be the end of it.
I have dealt with family members that had Alzheimer's and dementia both. (Separate people) And their decline is almost exact to Trump, minus him being much more vindictive and vicious. Having listened to Biden, he has a stammer and is struggling a bit with recalling words.
