It does remain startling to me how the response to the attempt on Pelosi’s husband (which was directed at her) was largely met with a shrug. Also, remember the attempt to kidnap Gretchen Whitmer? Which Biden *pointedly* brought up last night in Detroit?

My skeet about 1970s assassination attempts has a lot of "they were desensitized to political violence then, unlike now" replies. And that doesn't really ring true to me. Giffords, Pelosi's husband, January 6—we've had a lot of political violence in recent years without trans-partisan uproar.
