@katharinehayhoe.com I've been looking at the dam safety studies in Texas, www.tceq.texas.gov/compliance/i... which are (shudder) under the purview of the TCEQ. In their 140 page final report "Probable Maximum Precipitation Study for Texas" the words "climate change" never appear,...

I once wrote a fact check of a Morgan Spurlock book. He included what he said was a direct quote from the FDA that aspartame causes cancer. I checked the footnote. An FDA newsletter did publish that claim — but *only to specifically refute it*. That’s basically how Barrett quotes Madison here.
These mistakes originalist justices are making aren’t about disputed interpretations of history, with evidence on both sides. They’re pulling quotes out of context to attribute ideas to founding figures that those figures adamantly opposed. (via @andycraig.bsky.social) reason.com/volokh/2024/...
The Supreme Court's Dubious Use of History in Department of State v. Munozreason.com Justice Amy Coney Barrett's majority opinion includes significant errors, and violates some of her own precepts against excessive reliance on questionable history.

Biden has a bad debate night: calls to step down Documents released that show two underage women accused Trump of raping them on Epstein’s island, under oath: total media silence except in a few blogs and foreign news The media double standard is incredible to see

You don't see GOPers publicly pulling their hair out over Trump praising Hannibal Lecter at every speech. They just push ahead to get their guy--their policy goals--in power. Dems need the same monomaniacal focus. Is Biden old? Yes. Does it suck? Yes. Does it actually matter here? No.

They see “Biden is old” bc the media frames it that way, and then self-defeating Dems hop on board. Trump is giving speeches that are UTTERLY INCOHERENT AND DERANGED. But the media ignores, and the Dems would rather worry abt the aesthetics of their guy than attack Trump. I mean: DE. RANGED.

Twice in the past month I have been asked to do an interview for the New York Times. Citing their hard right turn, I declined both. Everything I have seen from that paper in the past month has only bolstered my confidence in those decisions.

Seriously. He's so clearly more mentally fit than Trump. I say this as someone dealing with a parent with advanced dementia. Trump seems like he's got dementia, Biden seems like he's slowing down a normal amount for his age. You can argue they're both too old. They are! But those are the choices.

It also makes me feel insane that the rat fuck around Biden’s age and mental capacity is being uncritically spread around by Democrats when Trump is *incredibly obviously* grotesquely mentally incapacitated, in a way that is genuinely terrifying.
It makes me feel very much unmoored from reality to see all this *buying into* the Biden Too Old ratfuck narrative, days after the Supreme Court ruled that Trump gets to be dictator for life, just weeks after Trump became a convicted felon (oh, and there’s the Epstein stuff that just came out).

A lot has happened in this past week, but don't forget that Neil Gorsuch and the rest of the conservatives said cities can criminalize needing a blanket in the cold.

I can't for the life of me find it (I slim a lot of stuff) but someone in last day or so claimed that some law proposed by some right wing whacko would, effectively, make being transgender illegal vis a vis restrictions on what they consider "porn". IE, being transgender is pornographic.

If it's so bad that you couldn't possibly vote against Trump to stop fascism and apartheid at home, then surely it has to be bad enough that you should stop paying for it. Otherwise it's just virtue signaling while admitting you're perfectly fine hurting people at home to do it.
