The one continuity between JD Vance and Romney/Ryan is that dude seems like he's always giving you a speech about how he's doing you a favor by laying you off. Only JD seems like he's trying to talk you into walking into a mulcher so Peter Thiel can use your blood and flesh for biodiesel.

Remember this vividly—especially since we’ve seen it play out so many times since. Lots of hard work/time to include Rs only to result in not one vote from them.

The ACA would have had an option for public health insurance had it not been for one Joe Lieberman. And I think that was *after* Max Baucus ran away with the bill for months to pretend he was going to get Republican support while watering it down further and then of course getting zero R votes.
