The only two pieces of writing advice I consistently give are: 1. Write worse. Lower your standards as much as necessary to get the words on the page. 2. Finish writing before you start editing. It doesn't work for everyone, but it's the only approach that has ever worked for me.

Anyway, the whole 'litfic or CanLit vs.specfic' debate was why I had kind of a terrible time at the Banff Institute this January. It was me (1 bugge) and fifteen (15) creative writing MFA or PhD attendees. They were all perfectly nice but they let me know VERY CLEARLY I had nothing to contribute.

Democrats showing support for banning masks as Republicans launch legislation to do the same is terrifying. If you think disabled people deserve the right to exist in public even a little bit, please raise hell about this. shut down the liberals in your lives who raise this idea

UPDATE: NY Governor Kathy Hochul said on CNN last night that she is considering a ban on masks. This is absolutely shameful! New York has suffered so much from COVID, and COVID is not over. We should be normalizing and depoliticizing masks, not banning them.
