Yeah that’s my thinking exactly, more cooks in the kitchen usually makes it harder to get to a final!

As an AD I try to pay more if I know there are going to be more layers of editors picking at something

In my experience the more an illustration job pays, the more people have their hands on it. Sometimes for the better sometimes it just makes a design by committee Frankenstein of a few good ideas into one dull one. Cheap work usually let you do whatever, whether that’s good is up to you 🤷🏻‍♂️

Forgot to mention it but we found a very tiny, very scared kitten over the weekend, and we’ve been watching her while we’re figuring out where she’s gonna land. Day 3: She just slept inside my sweater for an hour. She loves me 😭

This might be my favorite thing I’ve ever seen

I saw Merrily We Roll Along on Broadway tonight and it was so good it made me cry happy tears. What a thrill to be back in the Church of Sondheim and see three home-run performances help a challenging piece just go soaring into the canon. The standing ovation felt like actual heartfelt gratitude.

Actually I think that working with my guild colleagues to make the place where I am already employed the best place to work possible is a worthwhile endeavor.

I would recommend the New York Times, where I work. I can be sad to see my colleagues laid off and still believe in the work we are doing as journalists. These things are not mutually exclusive.
