This is totally paying the troupe of foxes to guard the hen house and giving them bonuses on reducing the number of foxes reported in the hen house.
🧵 I’m sorry to do this to you, but there’s a Part 2. I waited to share this part because I worried most of you'd not be able to handle all of this at once. But you’ve had a week to recover, so let’s dive into how Apple execs are giving themselves bonuses as a reward for illegal dumping! ⬇️

The Democratic Party’s reaction to their candidate having a bad debate substantially outpaces the Republican Party’s reaction to their candidate being convicted of multiple felonies, held liable for rape, and owing judgments in the hundreds of millions for defamation and fraud.

I'll forever keep my simple explainer of FMVSS compliance: Put a sticker on it. That's it, the end. Just need a sticker stating that you think your product meets all required safety standards and you accept civil liability should this be proven false

Here in Denver, you're now seeing STARs vans everywhere - "Support Team Assisted Response." It's a medic and a social worker, both trained in mental health and addiction support, showing up instead of police. They offer support to homeless folks, people in crisis, and folks in altered states.
"U.S. police departments have gotten smaller—and the violent crime rate is still plummeting. So what is going on?" What's ALWAYS gone on. Cops do not stop crime. They never have. Real "tough on crime" measures are well-funded schools, free daycare, and mental health services. Always have been.

I hope people understand that what we are seeing is the systematic destruction of the civil war amendments by the Supreme Court, which are what made America and actual democracy and upon which all minority rights in the United States rely

I'm old. Every time I see VC, I don't think venture capitalists, but VietCong. That war ended when I was still a toddler, but the translator circuit resists reprogramming. Perhaps because of my knee jerk responses to both?

Grew up in SoCal and was astounded that they let the oil industry threaten their international tourist draws - the beaches - with the *inevitable* oil spills. The public doesn't make enough money to justify closed beaches, the stink and dead wildlife.
OK here's the deal: 1. SB 1497 would make oil companies pay into a fund for the trillions of dollars in harms they have caused to California. 2. It is at a critical point now where it can quietly die behind closed doors one week from today unless we all make a very big deal of how important it is.

Good! Everyone with the right to vote must be able to exercise that right.
3 really great pieces in @bolts.bsky.social in recent days 1️⃣ Colorado is poised to become the 1st state in the nation to require all jails to set up polling centers, so people detained there during elections can vote. A major development: boltsmag.org/colorado-vot...
Colorado Lawmakers Pass First-in-Nation Mandate for Voting Centers in Jailsboltsmag.org People held in county jails typically retain the right to vote but face enormous hurdles to actually casting a ballot. The legislature adopted a bill meant to remedy the issue.

saw a tweet by gldivittorio that said 1 reason rapidly spreading college protests are being fought so hard is the 3.5% rule. Historically it takes just 3.5% of a population to challenge the govt before it can't resist change. For the US that's about 12 million, there are 18 million college students.
The '3.5% rule': How a small minority can change the worldwww.bbc.com Nonviolent protests are twice as likely to succeed as armed conflicts – and those engaging a threshold of 3.5% of the population have never failed to bring about change.

The State of Oregon just sent me a special election ballot. It will cost me a stamp to mail it back. I can fill it out at my leisure. In my recliner if I want. I don't see any reason that everyone can't have this convenience if we have a democracy where we value participation. But we don't.
