I will bang this drum forever: in THEY THOUGHT THEY WERE FREE: THE GERMANS, 1933-45 Milton Mayer interviewed 10 ordinary Germans after WW2 to learn how fascism took hold. There was never a moment when everyone woke up:
if you’re waiting for everyone around you to wake up, you’ll wait forever. this is how the people grinding our bones to make their bread WANT you to be. paralyzed, alienated & purposeless

Seattle residents! Contact your City Council people before Tuesday to express support for this legislation. It waives codes that currently make it impossible to convert office spaces to residential ones. This will help with the housing crisis! www.king5.com/article/news...

The GOP’s nominee to run the 9th most populous state just called for killing people who disagree with the far-right and that sentiment was echoed by the head of Heritage and the man behind Project 2025. But like 90% of all political news is about Democratic hand-wringing over Biden’s debate flop.

A total ban is the only sane policy for Airbnb. There obviously needs to be accommodation in cities for visitors, but that shouldn’t be at the expense of housing units for people who actually live there. More governments should follow Barcelona’s lead.
Barcelona Plans to Ban All Short-Term Rentals for Tourists From 2029www.bloomberg.com Barcelona plans to enact a citywide ban on all short-term rentals to address complaints that tourism is to blame for a local housing crisis and soaring rents.

Rev. Barber comments on controversy over whether Biden should step down due to debate performance: “We can't get stuck on which candidate performs better on TV … Because in my tradition, Moses stuttered, but he brought down Pharaoh … I have trouble walking, but I know how to walk toward justice.”

This is smart.
In a fucked up turn of events, I would use the end of Chevron as the excuse to expand the court and the whole judiciary by pointing out that they don’t have the capacity to hear all the cases they just gave themselves. 27 justices, double the size of the circuits. Huh. Thanks John Roberts.

Just reiterating this, because, unfortunately, it appears to be increasingly relevant.
If Biden literally shat himself during one of the debates, his opponent would still be the guy openly vowing to send federal troops to take over cities, set up mass detention camps, and imprison his critics. The only sane position would still be Team Pants Shitter.

"Don't vote for the guy who organized a violent insurrection at the US Capitol to try to overthrow the last election" would have seemed like a pretty G-D low bar for American citizens to get over if you'd asked my 2010 self about it. I think it's important to remain appalled by such moral turpitude.
