Here's to better, more compassionate, and more just humans in a better, more compassionate, and more just world.

Have not known what to do with myself this evening, as the bad brain juice was sloshing all about. Went for guitar practice, b/c it was the one functional thing (moves me toward goals + often makes me happy) I could manage. When I get up tomorrow, I will be Sunday’s El, who practiced. :)

So I am having a PTSD weekend b/c of…certain recently broken news. I am incredibly grateful to past me, who last week made the pumpkin oat muffins I just thawed & ate, and earlier this week made the sugar cookies w/ colorful sprinkles that I had this afternoon. Being sweet to yourself rocks.

My dog is so unhappy about the hours of ongoing fireworks that she followed me into the bathroom when I went to pee & hopped directly into the tub for safety. First, of course, she had to climb out from under my desk (where she’d somehow contrived to fit).

I have run out of T. Kingfisher sad-paladin romances. Since these feature berserker paladins, gruesome murders, political intrigue, and the occasional demonic possession — along with extremely cute badger people — you can imagine the complexity of the void I’m trying to fill.

I am having a pain day that has sent me back to bed twice already. This is reminiscent of my early 30s and I do *not* appreciate it. But Astra is doing so much better she hopped up on the bed to keep me company earlier, and that’s a win for both of us. 😊

June last year, we’d had, by weekend: Dad’s memorial service Father’s Day —a weekend’s breathing room— My Dad’s birthday (four days after mine) which we held a smaller memorial event for. And now he’s just been interred, I’m spending two years in a row being a grief zombie on my birthday week.

I am so pleased to learn this will be available to gift next year.

sorry but none of you know him well enough to be saying anything but nosferavous

I made it through this last day, and my dad’s ashes are in an untreated box of soft wood, in his small-town Episcopal church’s memorial garden. That part of him will eventually become part of the garden. It means so much to me when my loved ones are allowed to rejoin the earth. It helps.

Woke up (very) early with nightmares, but then I read this. The world feels kinder now.

I know my current awful fibro flare is due to stress but…my dad’s ashes are (finally) going to be interred this coming Saturday, & I don’t know how not to be stressed about it. I don’t want another group grieving event. I want this to have been over already, last June.
