I’ve seen online communities you noobs wouldn’t believe. Attacking comments in the forums of Usenet. I’ve seen Geocities blinking under a million construction GIFS, and threaded flame wars spanning hundreds of LiveJournals. These memories will be lost…like tears in rain…

This is probably part of why everyone on bluesky is 38 years old: 38 year olds are basically the only people who consider it totally normal to flee a sinking ship and then just casually resume the conversation on the tropical island they end up on. They've outlived dozens of ships.

Despite the bigots’ hardest efforts, we did DEI training a few weeks ago and have had MULTIPLE Pride events run by our c-suite execs. We even have swag. My company employs over 50,000 people. They. Are. Losing.

One thing to keep in mind is that while it’s scary to see conservative lunatics pulling shit like this, they’re doing it because *they’re losing*. They’re trying to assert a cultural authority that has already mostly slipped through their fingers on this issue.

There’s a former federal prosecutor who spent his career prosecuting mob bosses before leading a successful private firm. I’m in awe of this guy. For years he has volunteered as a judge at my school’s paralegal practicum expo. He told me I had one of the best portfolios he’d ever seen.
