I mean, the man spent $44 billion to buy out the app full of people making fun of him, rather than just ... Log off.
Avatar
Actually he promised to buy it, tried to back out, then got sued to force him to buy it. I wouldn't be surprised if Tesla is already looking into their legal options to force him to go through with it.

Avatar
They don’t have the board for it.
Avatar
There is a point where his pockets will be empty, right? I mean, I thought 44 billions was already most of his fortune to begin with...
Avatar
It would be real sweet if he did and they went on to become even more successful without him.
"Oh thank god. The fucker has exited the building. Now I can stop doing the rodeo clown thang and actually go back to engineering a car that won't fall apart in the car wash or look like it's been slathered in Rust-EZ."
Avatar
I would write a little cheque with the big number on it, and tie a piece of string to it, and then…

Oh please oh please oh please

Please I just need this damn it
Avatar
The shareholders need to call his fucking bluff.
Avatar
Everything I've heard so far suggests they are happier and running better since he started occupying his time with Twitter, so not sure why they'd want to keep him. His name isn't worth what it used to be.

“Musk to leave Tesla to focus more time on lobotomizing patients at his brain chip startup”
Avatar
can't he please just go and populate mars.
Avatar
I would be genuinely happy if he announced he would be the first Martian.
Avatar
Unlike the book with the title The Martian, this would be a very short story. "Hey." "Yeah." "We left Elon on Mars." "Oh. Pass the ketchup."
Avatar
Come on, we know he doesn't fulfill his promises. I wouldn't trust this one.
Avatar
I enjoyed his threats that if he didn't get $50 billion then he'd stay on as CEO but would no longer provide Tesla with visionary leadership necessary for it to advance in the worlds of "AI" and humanoid robotics. Just so many layers of weirdness and stupidity in that declaration.
Avatar
He was going to solve world hunger until he wasn’t. He was going to buy Twitter but then he wasn’t (and only did because forced). He was going to Mars but he’s still here. Hyperloop. Of all the people who bluff badly, there is Elon.
Avatar
Him leaving might save Tesla if they could hire someone who actually knows what they're doing. That'd be incredibly funny.
Avatar
He won't get far in his Cybertruck.
Avatar
Avatar
C'mon. It's clear that X is the future. Ditch tesla, and let the professionals run it. It's clear they don't understand your vision. Do it. Coward!
Avatar
Avatar
He needs to lose his government clearances and contracts too.
Avatar
Avatar
He won’t leave he craves being able to bend the company to his whims while the worst of society think he’s tony stark. Craves that attention
Avatar
He's been nothing but poison for the company lately.
Avatar
The tesla lawyers looking for any scrap of wording that ties him to make this decision like with him buying twitter with bloodshot eyes hoping for the love of everything they can drop this dead weight.

Big munchkin dnd player energy from baby E "If I don't get to use my homebrew kill everything sword and be the coolest fighter, I'm gonna quit the game"

Where else are you going to find another fifty something ketamine soaked edgelord with 11 kids with impossible to pronounce names?
Avatar
If Musk leaves Tesla 1) that's $56,000,000,000 saved so good day there, and 2) I know I'd look into getting one again. A company willing to jettison this wanko must have some sense after all.
Avatar
I was hoping for one of those Jimmy Swaggart "Lord will call me home" ultimatums, or at least Howard Beale-style on-air suicide.
Avatar
I genunely think this would be a huge boon for Tesla in the long run. There's no way he's doing more good than harm for their brand. Being able to divorce themselves from his insane micromanagement would probably allow them to fix their quality issues, regain customer trust, and regain position.
Avatar
Funny set of economic incentives: it’s much better for the future of Tesla as a company that makes cars and batteries if he leaves, but the stock would definitely take a huge hit because it would stop being a meme stock propped up by idiots
Avatar
They want money not because they need it. But only for their ego. The whole world be damned.

Oh for the love of GOD yes! Please do! Some poor village in South Africa is missing their idiot!
Avatar
He shouldn't dare to promise us all a good time like that. Him leaving would be the best thing to happen to that company in years.
Avatar
i long to have the confidence and entitlement of a less than mediocre white man
Almost makes me wish I owned some Tesla stock
Stop threatening us with a great time.
Avatar
It's a start. I won't be truly satisfied until he leaves everything everywhere for all time.
Avatar
The argument she's making sounds like it was written in 2018 before everyone figured out what a fraud Musk really is.
Avatar
It'd probably be worth $56 billion to get rid of him
