Actually he promised to buy it, tried to back out, then got sued to force him to buy it. I wouldn't be surprised if Tesla is already looking into their legal options to force him to go through with it.
"Oh thank god. The fucker has exited the building. Now I can stop doing the rodeo clown thang and actually go back to engineering a car that won't fall apart in the car wash or look like it's been slathered in Rust-EZ."
Everything I've heard so far suggests they are happier and running better since he started occupying his time with Twitter, so not sure why they'd want to keep him.
His name isn't worth what it used to be.
I enjoyed his threats that if he didn't get $50 billion then he'd stay on as CEO but would no longer provide Tesla with visionary leadership necessary for it to advance in the worlds of "AI" and humanoid robotics. Just so many layers of weirdness and stupidity in that declaration.
He was going to solve world hunger until he wasn’t.
He was going to buy Twitter but then he wasn’t (and only did because forced).
He was going to Mars but he’s still here.
Hyperloop.
Of all the people who bluff badly, there is Elon.
The tesla lawyers looking for any scrap of wording that ties him to make this decision like with him buying twitter with bloodshot eyes hoping for the love of everything they can drop this dead weight.
Big munchkin dnd player energy from baby E
"If I don't get to use my homebrew kill everything sword and be the coolest fighter, I'm gonna quit the game"
If Musk leaves Tesla 1) that's $56,000,000,000 saved so good day there, and 2) I know I'd look into getting one again. A company willing to jettison this wanko must have some sense after all.
I genunely think this would be a huge boon for Tesla in the long run. There's no way he's doing more good than harm for their brand. Being able to divorce themselves from his insane micromanagement would probably allow them to fix their quality issues, regain customer trust, and regain position.
Funny set of economic incentives: it’s much better for the future of Tesla as a company that makes cars and batteries if he leaves, but the stock would definitely take a huge hit because it would stop being a meme stock propped up by idiots
