This is supercool & also yet another national org not looking at Indiana*. Breaking a supermajority is not sexy- it'd still be a trifecta- but is doable. The AG race is critical, esp bc of party line ballot options. But what happens here doesn't stay here. *You have to start somewhere/capacity/etc
Defeating Trump in 2020 came down to less than 44,000 voters in 3 states. This election promises to be nauseatingly close, and we've got the easiest and most impactful way to make a difference. Finally landed. Saw this in Newark- probably the biggest blue screen of death I've ever seen.

Donald Trump and the GOP have for years openly endorsed political violence, often gleefully. And now, in a perfect distillation of how in the tank for them our news media institutions are, we are being told that it’s actually divisive not for them to do that but for Democrats to be pointing it out
Remember how the right turned Kyle Rittenhouse into a hero? For shooting people at a racial justice protest?

If you need help pitching an oped you can email me lollardfish at gmail and I will help. I will do it for free because I think more experts, writing and accessible ways for the public is a fundamental good.
Junior Scholars: Project 2025 is now breaking through to public consciousness. The more people learn about it, the more they hate it. Now is a great time to search that website, go to the section of your expertise, and write an oped. Keep the drip of bad news for them coming, all the way to Nov.

The fun thing about racists who think Black people get handed jobs they don’t deserve is that they have almost always been handed jobs they don’t deserve
Lauren Boebert is a high school dropout. I don't say this to shame people who don't finish their education. But it helps underscore how all the chitter chatter about "DEI" has nothing to do with merit. It's just a racial slur. www.salon.com/2024/07/05/b...
Boebert's "DEI hire" remark towards Karine Jean-Pierre causes blowbackwww.salon.com The Colorado rep., who obtained a GED in 2020, called the Columbia grad and first Black press secretary a DEI hire.

knowing that the white house just signed a massive parkinson’s bill in july changes the entire tone of this story so much that this makes it wildly, horrifically offensive
Breaking News: A Parkinson’s expert visited the White House eight times in eight months from last summer through this spring, according to official visitor logs. The administration has said that President Biden has no signs of the disease.

Yes, it's entirely possible that the President is meeting w/a Parkinson's expert because he has exhibited signs. It's also entirely possible that the President is meeting w/a Parkinson's expert because he's signing a bill to try to ... end Parkinson's? When you're a hammer, everything's a nail

"National Plan to End Parkinson’s Act" signed on July 2, 2024 (this is not mentioned in the NYT reporting)

I got this vaguely threatening email, spent ~20 min on hold to tell the BMV we moved out of state last yr. The response: Oh, those come from a third party. You don't have to worry. A minor inconvenience, but also an #AdministrativeBurden that adds unnecessary friction to citizen-gov interactions

This presumes every state has a mechanism for citizen-driven ballot initiatives/referenda. In fact, only 26 states provide for these measures. I didn't know this until I lived and did advocacy in Indiana. ballotpedia.org/States_with_...
Honest question: who is in charge of making sure abortion access is on the ballot in every single state? Who is running point on this?

Not everyone has gotten that the piece I wrote below is satire. It is, intended to convey how the media would cover Biden denying connections with his closest aides. But the reality is that when Trump does it, it barely merits a mention. NYT front page is all Biden. Trump's lies not covered.
Trump said “I know nothing about Project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it.” But Project 2025 is run by Trump's closest aides, raising concerns about cognitive fitness for a candidate who seems unable to recall those around him. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/troubling-...

Morning Joe has, all in all, been a lone voice of sanity in the media mob's rush to ride Biden out of town. Mika has been wonderful: a voice of calm and perspective and I suspect she had some words for Joe, who metered his tone from last week and urged taking time before rushing to judgment.
"The fact that we're going to hold Joe Biden to one standard and Donald Trump to another, which is really no standard at all." - @JoeNBC on The New York Times et al.

This from @atrupar.bsky.social on The Bad Place. However one feels about the ultimate question on the table, the pace and frenzy with which this discourse around whether a sitting president should step aside/down because of a singular event (that embodies a larger issue) is mind-blowing.

Oh #Polisky, I'd ask if y'all are ok but I know you are probably not. This auto-reply did make me laugh/cry though.

Yep. One of the biggest blind spots people have is assuming that underneath, others share the same basic values as them. They have trouble imagining an ideology that is completely misaligned with theirs.

Classic American political dialogue is premised on the idea that we share fundamental values but disagree on how best to promote them. I haven’t believed this for a while. Other than “I prefer to be alive and not dead” and “I like pudding,” I do not share values with these people.

Homeless people can be arrested for sleeping, Presidents cannot be arrested for rampant graft and corruption done while in office. There is no clearer a summary of "conservative 'law and order'" than this.
