Aaaand, the classified documents case against Trump has been thrown out. Cue a lengthy appeal process before it gets thrown out by the Supreme Court (even if Trump is unable to pardon himself). The coup happened; Jan 6 was only part of the advertising campaign.

It's incredibly sad that we've all lost out on such a vital and effective self-promo tool, but simultaneously, it's validating to know that, no, it's not just me. Twitter/X is utterly useless, now. Broken beyond repair. boringstorybook.com/break-up-wit...

There’s nothing in the rules of Monopoly that says you can’t flip the board over and punch your opponent in the mouth. But if someone did that, they’d be out of the game forever. What Trump did was far, far worse. And everyone’s still just… sitting at the table, letting him play.
There’s a presidential candidate who organized a coup on live TV and was recently convicted of dozens of felonies for something entirely separate, and the political system is demanding his opponent step down.

Imagine looking at one million acres of land and pristine fresh water, with no motor vehicles, no development, one of only 13 dark sky sanctuaries in the world and saying…this should be a mine.
Very unfun fact: Project 2025 specifically names Minnesota's Boundary Waters Canoe Area and wants to remove its protected status and open it up to mining. This is the future Donald John Trump wants.

one time I was walking in lower Manhattan and a guy stopped at a light asked me if I knew where Laight Street was and I said no and he said “well can you take a fucking guess” and I’ve been thinking about that ever since

One of French Guiana's loveliest and strangest birds is the Ferruginous-backed Antbird. I watched this pair duetting along a fallen trunk at Camp Bonaventure a few days ago. #Birds

One of the great charms of a British election are the "Silly" candidates. That's why there are pictures of the new PM shaking hands with Giant Elmo after the result was announced. It would be really annoying if Reform ruin that.

in light of today’s results, this quote from last week stands out
THE sentence of the day: A Macronist incumbent in the Marseille region came in 3rd in her seat. She just dropped out to support the left. She said, about why she's maneuvering to block the far-right: "Defeats happen, but you can never recover from dishonor."

Our flag got torn down yesterday, it's up today For a while I naively thought we were past much of the hate and I didn't feel the need to do something like fly a flag. Then my LGBTQ+ friend had their flag torn off their home. I will keep putting this up to support her and everyone in the community

And the fact that the piece didn't even mention that northern Idaho has been regarded as a haven for neo-Nazis and white supremacists since the Aryan Nations set up shop there in the 1970s is just a gobsmacking omission.
I know they get rolled all the time but for the Times to get rolled by “actually they just want to reclaim the values of Western civilization as they see it … with larger families and fewer immigrants” is the Times putting the 14 words in the paper
