Powerful reminder how much of politics comes down to elites solving (or not solving) the coordination problem. France, Iran, UK (Starmer purging Labour). Very different situation but US Democrats also facing big coordination problem. And we got Trump because 2016 R's did not solve theirs. #polisky

But he was wrong. The religion was real, no?
This guy was such a G for telling his evil wizard cyborg boss that his religion is bullshit during a work meeting.

I'd be shocked if data came back showing a new desire for Biden to step down is a top down phenomenon. Every relatively normal (non political junkie) Dem I talk to, every one, thinks the debate showed Biden needs to step aside. NY Times coverage is annoying, but the debate created this.

If you think all the people who changed their mind on the wisdom of a Biden candidacy are consuming NY Times coverage first or second hand, I fear you are deluding yourself.

Has anyone touched grass and talked to any normie who wasn't alarmed by the debate? Anyone? I haven't. If anything, it's the "need to stick with Biden no matter what" that is a creation of high media consumption people.

I will bang this drum forever: in THEY THOUGHT THEY WERE FREE: THE GERMANS, 1933-45 Milton Mayer interviewed 10 ordinary Germans after WW2 to learn how fascism took hold. There was never a moment when everyone woke up:

Me: "Mr President, I'd like to give you a bribe and commit some treason together." President: "Hold on, lets move this conversation to the Oval Office and bring in some White House aids so we are sure all this gets immunity."
My first read: If a president commits crimes unrelated to him being the most powerful person in the world, he can be prosecuted. But if explicitly uses his powers to commit crimes, he is at least presumptively, and probably absolutely immune from prosecution. I mean, holy shit.

I don’t know what’s gonna happen and I am personally agnostic about it (and I’ll stop after this) but this is not a media creation. People in the Democratic Party are doing this. Successful or not, Democratic insiders are pursuing this.

Brexit happened and isn't being undone. Those who make change face a backlash but that usually means they are winning, and the major policy change won't be undone. The lesson is that "increase the contradictions" theories of political change almost always don't work.

People are very unhappy with most incumbents in major democracies. It will do us no good in the end if they lose, but Biden-Harris are in relatively good shape in comparison.
Exit polling suggests 410 seats for Labour and only 130 for the Tories, which “would be the worst defeat for the Conservatives in the nearly 200-year history of the party”
