So many journalists going to be spending their time in leftist brasseries interviewing voters and trying to figure out how they missed this movement

This is also why this issue gets more ongoing attention than SCOTUS/immunity: it is unresolved and evolving, even if it is not as important. bsky.app/profile/mbkp...
The biggest issue with Biden coverage is that he’s now The Story, which means that most of the press is focused on The Story and not any of the context or consequences. If we were having a serious discussion about qualifications for presidency, age, and the two main candidates, I’d be fine with it.

Right, this. It’s basically ultra-scrutiny for any age-related misstep up to the election, at which point Trump either wins or begins leading judicial/armed protest against what would probably be a squeaker for Biden
I think Biden and his team need to start asking themselves what four months of every single public appearance being treated as a competency test is going to feel like, and how that ends. Because I don't see it stopping--there's no magic moment on the horizon that simply puts the whole thing to rest.

Interesting and in some cases surprising. I really have no idea what’s happening beyond my little neck of the woods, but my sense is that the debate + recent SCOTUS rulings have actually created MORE urgency among bluish voters despite lagging enthusiasm for Biden himself. Who knows
A poll conducted post-debate shows: - no shift in the horse race since April - Harris faring better (though not significantly) than Biden against Trump www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

Have come to believe that anecdata is a totally good guide to Covid surges, and two different coworkers and one close friend have been hit with Covid after trips in the last 10 days
Just FYI we’re entering a summer Covid wave right now (especially western regions in the US); you can see it in the CDC wastewater plot here (and anecdotally a bunch of my friends are suddenly testing positive). www.cdc.gov/nwss/rv/COVI...

-From dawn to sundown Biden is reliably engaged, and this is when many public events in front of cameras are scheduled. - After sundown Biden lopes on all fours, sharpening his talons on the cobblestones as he lathers at the mouth and calls out mockingly to his prey, according to aides.

This is really observant — media are mostly Dems or non-MAGA Republicans, so this premise feels right to them. Their expectations are very different for the two groups
A few years ago, Jon Lovett floated a theory that media treats Democrats like protagonists - to be challenged, accounted, and forced to be behave in growth-oriented ways - while the GOP are treated like antagonists - immutable, expected to disrupt, thematic obstacles. Thinking about that a lot.

It’s extremely unpopular on the left to suggest Biden has lost a step. Media orgs get slammed for pointing it out. Yes, Trump is old too, and his rants are often unhinged. But anyone watching tonight can see Biden is struggling to communicate. I’m not sure the denial has done Democrats any favors.

Also worth noting: many women in this situation are not having their first kid. This policy not only sucks for women (and the people who love them) but risks orphaning a lot of young children. (My water broke at 35 weeks in both pregnancies; I was lucky that babies were far enough along to deliver.)
Ok, I need everybody to read Section III-A of Alito's dissent in the Idaho abortion case. He says - explicitly and specifically - that in cases where the amniotic sac breaks before the 24th week of pregnancy, abortions should be prohibited. HE SPECIFICALLY NOTES THE DANGERS. He points out that...
