I made this Pride flag using only NASA images and our team thought it would be cool to share on social (I work on the NASA heliophysics communications team), but it's getting all sorts of hate on the bird app and Fbook. Thought y'all might be more appreciative of it here. ☺️🏳️‍🌈💖

Gainax died as it lived: being just comically terrible at money management at every turn.
Gainax — the anime studio once behind Evangelion, Honneamise, Nadia, Gunbuster, Gurren Lagann, and other classics — has filed for bankruptcy.

For various legal reasons they can't say this is the official, authorized sequel by the original creators of Star Control 2 I've been hoping for for three decades, but it is. Check out FREE STARS: Children of Infinity by Pistol Shrimp on Kickstarter: www.kickstarter.com/projects/pis...

Every time I remember that Kimono My House exists and that I can go there, it's like a tiny gift. It's basically a warehouse full of anime and tokusatsu goods from the 70s and 80s, as well as unique shirts and posters from when the owner licensed the stuff before anyone in the US cared about anime

I feel like such an idiot for not realizing that yesterday was the 35th Anniversary of Super Mario Bros 2 coming to North America. My favorite Mario game.

Not sure why I went with carrot cake except I haven't had one for quite a while and I'm really craving it. I miss the cheap but delicious frozen carrot cake Trader Joes used to sell in a paper tray until like 10-15 years ago. 😥
Let's go, full dessert mode on Bluesky. Best pie: banana cream Best ice cream: mint oreo Best donut: glazed old fashioned Best bar: maple bacon Best cake: carrot w/ cream cheese frosting Best other: persimmon tempura ala mode made by a local Japanese restaurant for a couple weeks every December.

#RNDitem No. 17 - Anime Poseur bag from @bunnycartoon.bsky.social's store - I've carried this to every anime con (admittedly not that many thanks to the pandemic) I've attended since I bought it in late 2018. TBH I'm not really sure how much of why is deliberate irony vs actual imposter syndrome 😅

Periodic reminder that "don't speak ill of the dead" is for, like, not mentioning at her funeral that Aunt Sally was a drunk and a lousy cook. It's not for suppressing public discussion of public figures and their complicated legacies.

As a linguist, I'm really curious to watch how a better understanding of history might change the modern use of the word Luddite. As someone concerned about how tech is being used to concentrate power, I want everyone to learn from this, stat.
The Luddites weren’t technophobes. They saw factory owners using tech to degrade their livelihoods and fought back—first by trying to negotiate, then writing to Parliament, and finally smashing the machines. @bcmerchant.bsky.social talks to @parismarx.bsky.social about what we can learn from them.
