Here's a 'cite' to a paper of mine that I have not written, published in an article in a predatory journal
Recently, I was peer reviewing a paper, and it cited one of my papers. Except... it wasn't anything I had written. The title sounds like something I'd write. It included coauthors I work with, and was in a journal I've published in. But it wasn't real. AI is not good for science.

Some reduce the 2024 campaign to a contest between two old men, but it's a choice of two slates of federal appointees who'll impact your life in a million ways. Biden has staffed executive agencies with excellent choices who are doing good work. Trump will empower an army of Stephen Millers.
Under current law, you really couldn’t do much better than Biden’s FTC and NRLB. New Deal shit.

This would be a nightmare. Take the patent office. Almost all patent examiners are fully remote after two years training in the NoVa headquarters. They just gave up the lease on a big building there because they didn’t have the people to fill it. This is about DC commercial real estate.
Here is a novel proposal. Think about government personnel policy in terms of capacity and performance, not about ensuring there is sufficient economic activity in certain parts of the country, like West Virginia.

New, from me: Senators Joe Manchin and Mitt Romney have a bill that would limit the use of telework to two days per week for federal employees. They say its about productivity. But it would weaken the capacity of the feds to recruit and retain employees. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/inflexible...

The DoD has recognized pride month every year since 2012, following the repeal of DADT. Not a new policy; the "backlash" is a shift in how conservative media outlets report on the military, which *is* new. The case is a great data point in the debate over "politicization" and the military. (🧵)

Great moment to review WHEN confederate statutes went up, which explains their purpose. Most were erected AFTER the Civil War and during Jim Crow, and were a *backlash* to the racial progress of Reconstruction. Source + full report: www.splcenter.org/20190201/who...

Yep. We’ve known this for a long time. We also know that protesters self police, until law enforcement starts cracking down, at which point the good and bad actors unite against a common enemy, and the more extreme members of the protest grow more influential.
