If you charge $X for art commission and people will pay it then you are not only charging the right amount, you may be charging too little. Art is sold for what the current market can bear. That changes and everyone's market is different to them. BUT 90% of artists are charging too little.

Really excited for the Warriors over the Wasatch air show tomorrow. Been waiting for this for 2 years! Maybe with any luck I’ll be able to get back to Seafair next year too. I’ve always been a sucker for fast planes 🤣

@gwillow.me see, my body isn’t a self-limiting vehicle that is craving foods I don’t have in the house. It’s a self limiting vehicle because I DO have those foods in the house 😂😂

I totally thought this was just me lately.
Google Maps somehow managed to stop working reliably to search places, the one thing it was still better than the alternatives for. Results now seem kinda random, with places showing up one time out of 3 to 5. Even gas stations! I was about to drive 20m out of the way, then repeated the search.

Hurricanes. Never. Cross. The. Equator. Hurricane tracking data from 1851-2006 from NASA, showing the path of storms by color-coded intensity. Why? Because the Coriolis force at the equator is essentially zero & can only vector AWAY from the equator, producing spins that move storms OUT.

As a 5+ year survivor of Stage 3 colon cancer who went through multiple surgeries and 12 rounds of chemo, I stand in solidarity with Princess Catherine. Chemo sucks. Months of chemo really sucks. Not getting chemo when needed sucks worse. If you are 45 or older, get a colonoscopy. It’s covered.

For those of you asking for a higher resolution version, here you go. Should be 4k/300dpi, which is suitable for printing at about 13in x 8in/33cm x 20cm. (Note: I'm working with images not originally created in high resolution; some color bands may be blurry.) drive.google.com/drive/folder...
I made this Pride flag using only NASA images and our team thought it would be cool to share on social (I work on the NASA heliophysics communications team), but it's getting all sorts of hate on the bird app and Fbook. Thought y'all might be more appreciative of it here. ☺️🏳️‍🌈💖

Is something going on in Seattle today? Every single Hyatt hotel in the area is sold out.

I used to love SeaTac until I started traveling for work and got to experience other airports. Now it’s way down on my list.
I think I hate SEATAC more than I have ever hated any airport ever

I host an inconsequential but I think delightful podcast. The schtick is I bring on a reporter, activist, academic, or policy maker and they teach the audience about a topic. I'm looking for an expert to talk about the situation in Sudan. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Intros more so.

I’ve only seen 3 (maybe?) movies in the theater since the pandemic. It’s been an awful experience each time and definitely not worth the money. It would take a lot for me to go back.

We’re likely going to experience a mass-mortality heatwave (as in “over a million people will die from a single event”) within the next decade, and I’m guessing most people don’t even really realize that’s a thing that both CAN happen and is almost mathematically certain TO happen
52.3°C (126F) today in New Delhi. Yep, hottest day ever. And yes, that's a 20-year-old struggling with the heat. www.nytimes.com/2024/05/29/w...

I am going to be really blunt here. My friend is dying of cancer. I wanted to get him a bunch of attention and at least a few art sales and I am failing so far 😞 Can you help?
I wrote about one of my art friends who has been dealing with cancer for six years. Please take a look substack.com/home/post/p-...

Just alerting the game devs on here - if you were considering being part of the OTK summer game fest stream and didn't know much about it (like me), it's hosted by Asmongold, one of gamergate 2.0 people among other things. If your game is in there you're gonna be sending a certain kind of message.

At first I thought this was referring to Polaris' tenure as the North Star, since the Earth's axial precession means what is the "north star" changes over time, but NOPE, the star itself is estimated to be 70 million years old, and sharks have been around for 450 million years. Mind blown.
Reminder to new users here: Cladistically, there is no such thing as a fish or a tree. Also, sharks have existed longer than Polaris, the North Star has.
