TELL BLUESKY MORE ABOUT YOUR BOOK PLEASE!
Me too. (It doesn't help that my book goes into the 1950s drought and why so few noticed it.)

I'm the author of an upcoming book called DRIVE: Scraping by in Uber's America. It's about my time working as a rideshare driver after my divorce, but it's also about the gig work industry as a whole and how it exploits vulnerable people. It's available for pre-order and comes out May 14th!

Nice. I did like a one-year tour of duty. We all think we're gonna write a book about it but you just went ahead and did it.

It was rough but I'm sort of ashamed by how much I loved it.

The people are the best and worst thing about it. They all stand out so vividly.

They do. And so often it's their sadness. People call for an Uber at really rough times, often.

I sat at the curb for ten minutes bleeding money so he could go inside and try to get the girl to come with him. She didn't. I drove him home, far out into the country in silence.

One of the earliest stories in the book is about a woman who called me to take her back and forth to a liquor store from her home. Her son had overdosed that morning. She grabbed on to me when we got back to her driveway and sobbed in my arms.

I really wanted to thank everyone for sharing my book. I spent most of 2019 living in a homeless shelter, and nearly unalived myself. I started writing from my bunk, to help people like me. Less than 3 years later, my debut was published by one of the Big 5. So, thank you all!

I love this! I wish I had this around when I was a kid. I've mostly gotten over my texture thing, but this is a lovely idea.

Thank you! I wrote the book I needed growing up and I’m moved beyond words for the opportunity to help folks like me now and tomorrow. 💜

This sounds great. It’s not a need my daughter has but I will keep it in mind to recommend to other parents and I am pleased that it exists.

Is this for sensory sensitive adults too? The summary seems really geared to children.
Avatar
It includes adults as well! I did my best to be as inclusive as possible, for those cooking for others with sensory issues (young and old) as well as those making food for themselves.

Thanks for sharing. This is such a compassionate, validating, and accessible guide. We will be recommending it in our community.

I gave three copies to my cousins boys ages 5-7 and it was the only thing that got them to stop running around throwing hard candy at me so thank you (true anecdote, not a shitpost)

I'll have to check this out. My grandmother, with my young aunt and uncle, was stationed on the Aleutian Islands for part of WWII while my grandfather was off flying planes in the military.
