It’s official: The CDC has weakened its COVID isolation guidelines, in a move that goes against the science, encourages disease spread, and prioritizes corporate interests, making it easier for bosses to exploit workers.
One of the excuses the CDC is giving for weakening its COVID isolation guidelines is that the new ones are "easier to follow."
But when your guidelines go against the science, you aren't "simplifying" them, you are promoting misinformation.
With the new CDC guidelines, all people will hear is that if you don't have a fever, you can't spread COVID, which is wrong.
You can spread COVID when you don't have symptoms, and you may be contagious for weeks.
The new guidelines promote further misinformation about COVID.
Assuming no fever means no isolation is a definite possibility. In the isolation examples I saw on CDC (Preventing Spread of Respiratory Viruses When You’re Sick, 1 Mar 2024), none of them covered having no fever at all.
And they forgot to define fever again.
Every time someone uses the excuse that they don't have to mask because the government isn't forcing them, I ask if they're waiting for the government to force them to wipe their butts too.
"Hi. We changed the guidelines because you're too dumb."
More people would be super offended if their brains weren't inflamed from frequent covid infections.🤷♀️
{Our goal here is to continue to ignore long COVID and pretend it doesn’t exist and to utter words that used to have meaning like “protect” and “progress” even though the way we use them now renders them utterly meaningless because we’re actually doing the complete opposite, back to work plebs!}
No mention of Long COVID at all.
Also "He said he’d continue to urge employers to not force sick employees to come into work."
Tell me you've never worked a non-white collar job without telling me you've never worked a non-white collar job.
This article implies that the best way to protect yourself from COVID is to have antibodies from vaccination AND from prior infections. The next paragraph mentions that 2,000 people are still dying in the US each week from Covid.
As Homer Simpson once said, “I’m living in a cuckoo clock!”
It is hard to argue that this place is a civilization when it has abandoned the core value of civilization since Sumer; controlling disease. It’s impossible to argue that this place is civilized.
I keep waiting to see when it'll be safe to rejoin the world again, or at least to send my kids back to in-person, and the answer keeps being "lol looks like never"
Currently fever free on day 7 of my covid infection. Can’t work a full day or walk my dog cause I’m too tired but yeah let’s definitely treat this like a cold.
Had a co-worker with covid tell me it was the same as a cold and WHO lied to us. There was never such a thing. Yep, she works from home in Alabamy. 🤦🏼♀️
What changed? If t rump were still in office appointing his clowns to the CDC I'd get that this is happening, but shouldn't the current administration be smarter than that?
Shouldn't the current administration be more compassionate than that?
