Here's the thing: Trump *is* an authoritarian who wants to destroy democracy. This isn’t a smear, it’s a fact. That Trump got shot doesn’t change the necessity of him being defeated at the ballot box, nor does it absolve him of his past misdeeds.
Multiple things are true about Trump's shootingwww.publicnotice.co Political violence is wrong. And Trump is the candidate of political violence.

“What is most exceptional about the Americans is not the voluminous record of their violence but their extraordinary ability in the face of that record to persuade themselves that they are among the best behaved and best regulated of peoples.” - Richard Hofstadter, American Violence, 1970 🗃️

According to the Center for Strategic and International Studies—an eminently respectable, bipartisan think tank—right-wing political violence accounted for more than 90 percent of all attacks or plots in the first half of 2020, far outpacing terrorism from any other source since 1990.
We’re in an epidemic of right-wing terror. Won’t someone tell the press?www.motherjones.com More than a decade of media malpractice enabled January 6. Has the media learned its lesson?

I’m reading a general history of Indonesia, and perhaps it’s just the nature of a highly ethnically and religiously diverse archipelago, but thus far there have been a remarkable amount of military and political shenanigans

I’ve said this a million times, but I’m genuinely frightened about what Musk’s fascist propaganda network is doing to do to our politics. I really wish someone, anyone, would come up with a collective strategy to get journalists, organizers and elected officials off the platform.
Dipping back into Twitter to lurk on assassination stuff and truly, from the bottom of my heart, unless you have massively curated lists, no one in media or politics should be microwaving their neurons on there.

The argument is Trump is so dangerous, he's even a danger to himself, and it is blindly obvious.

A reminder of how Trump responded when a supporter broke into Nancy Pelosi's home and brutally attacked her husband with a hammer:

Yes, requests for non-fascists to "lower the temperature" is just a nicer way of putting the Heritage Foundation's statement that the revolution will remain bloodless if liberals allow it. It's a demand for acquiescence to the conditions of violence they created.
Seen a lot of comments like “hey Americans who support democracy, oppose political violence, and value truth, we have to take the temperature down,” and while well-intentioned, I don’t think it’ll work, because they’re not the ones raising the temperature.

He cheered the plot to kill Gretchen Whitmer, seems like that's worth really dwelling on given that it was extremely public and incredibly stupid

from now until Election Day, we connect every story back to Project 2025 Eg: The FBI is currently investigating the Trump shooter. But did you know that Project 2025 will place the FBI under Trump’s direct control, so he can decide which acts of political violence get investigated, and which don’t?

I’ll say one other thing; I don’t care how many hours have passed since the assassination attempt, there are just some people I’m not willing to take lessons on violent or irresponsible rhetoric from, or hear them out in good faith ever on this issue. Get fucked, fuck off, next.

An interesting fact about the tech industry is that its ruling culture is vindictive and genuinely insane, just stupid people generating paranoid fantasies to avoid understanding anything about themselves and what they’ve done

Project 2025 authors at the Heritage Foundation are already alleging the next election will be stolen, claiming any result other than a Trump victory in November will have been the result of fraud and will be challenged.

*casually lighting my law degree on fire* you see, the framers’ vision of the separation of powers requires that congress not regulate moonshiners, but the president can send agents to kill them in order to secure his royal monopoly.

Convicted felon Donald Trump was supposed to be sentenced today, before the Gang of Six on the stolen supreme court re-wrote the rules for him. There's no rule of law in the United States while the courts remain captured.
