CNN, MSNBC, NBC News, and Fox news, of those sites, 3/4ers no longer have the debate as the top story, NBC news doesn't even have the debate over the fold, I couldn't even see the headline on my monitor. All of the meta coverage goes something like, Biden disappoints, Trump lies a bunch
Look when you can say some ridiculous shit like "Biden should resign for HONOR" its too much to pass up Mr. Sweeney, that's all the News that's Fit To Print
I know a Jewish guy who likes to ask his Rabbi about the religious implications of certain online drama, and after talking about some kind of e-girl related thing, the Rabbi told him: "My son, when you speak, it ages me greatly."
I always think about that when I read Friedman's columns.
Would love to be able to ask Friedman, "Since you've been paying a lot of attention to AI, can you quickly explain the basics of how an LLM works?" and see what he comes up with.
Friedman has been (for the most part) discussing Gaza with sobriety and seriousness befitting his background as a foreign policy reporter. He needed to cut loose somewhere lol
it is baffling how consistently good he has been on Israel / Palestine while being so consistently awful on everything else.
Maybe expertise and languages skill (Hebrew AND Arabic) are more important than some dumb brain farts on things he knows nothing about?
I'm also annoyed by incessant trope of pretending they're talking to Biden man to man. HE put together an actual coalition and beat back fascism. YOU stumbled up into a sinecure and got laughed out of Oregon. Sit down. He didn't ask you for your opinion.
Ganz got this right in the newsletter today, it's good to be honest, that's why we have actual meaningful debates and they only have hacks; nothing wrong with looking coldheartedly at the race. But don't couch that shit in concern trolling.
And even that isn't something a persuadable voter even cares about. Like who's sitting there thinking "it's June, I'm not sure if I'm gonna sit this one out, but David Plouffe said he's worried about Biden so I guess that's that"
Like…the time to pick a new dem candidate was in 2020. We done got what we picked we don’t get to change our minds now god damn it not in the face of a Trump win!
I missed the debate entirely bc I was at an Alanis Morissette concert (highly recommend this strategy going forward). My parents/babysitters said "Rough night for Biden" when I got home, but that was about it. Just had lunch w my dad who was shocked at how hyperbolic the next-day coverage has been.
To which we need to ask: “In favor of whom?” It’s not like there’s a really deep bench. Yes, there are people who could do the job, but they’re not exactly household names.
The current leadership bears a lot of the blame for not grooming their replacements.
