It's probably worth recalling that we talk about the political "left" and "right" because of where people sat in the Assemblée nationale during the Revolution.

It's interesting too that the high price of fame has become such a potent theme in recent horrors: the X trilogy, for sure, but also Late Night with the Devil and the Exorcism both riff on that theme (see also: Rosemary's Baby).

I liked Maxxxine fine, and probably a little more than Girl Joker (Pearl). Pastiche is a weird genre- I guess this one succeeds because it really looks like an 80s movie (De Palma would have loved the twist ending) and never parodies itself.
