Someone I used to work with 35 years ago and haven’t seen since, with whom I was still “friends” on Facebook but who is not in my life, has more than once come into my feed to shill for his favorite candidate, RFK Jr. All I have for him is this.
YES!! And for a long I did it on this cruddy little Panasonic mono tape recorder with the big buttons that I got for my 13th birthday. I didn’t get a proper stereo cassette deck until I was in college.
And since I had the ingredients from the popsicles, I made halibut with Thai green curry and coconut lime rice for dinner. Yes, I used real coconut milk! Spent a pile of points on that but it was delicious.
Catching up on #food & drink posts… Pizza Night™ last Thursday was simple but delicious. Pepperoni and sweet pickled jalapeños. Calabrese chiles in the Mutti tomato passata as always. Crust brushed with bacon fat. #pizza 🍕
Verdict for Thai green curry popsicles v1: WE’RE ON TO SOMETHING HERE, KIDS!
These are terrific but they need work. The beverage coconut milk from the carton has almost no coconut flavor — the addition of a little coconut cream didn’t help much. It’s going to need either coconut extract added, or…
Today’s experiment is different though – I got the idea last year while thinking about other kinds of savory popsicles I’d like to try and never got around to it ‘til today: Thai green curry popsicles.
They’re in the freezer now. If I like them I’ll share the recipe.
… switching to full fat canned coconut milk. Unfortunately that kicks it up from 2 to 8 Weight Watchers points per bar. 😕
Although they can be much better these were still very good. Those little bits of lime zest, mmmm!
So! I love popsicles, but they’re too sweet for me. I’ve always thought savory popsicles should be more of a thing, so here’s my go with something (very Canadian) that I loved: ketchup popsicles!
They’re actually 80% tomato juice & tomatoes are a fruit, so you could just call them tomato popsicles.

New #cocktail special at Quark’s Bar: The PROMENADIER! 1.5 Cardassian Kanar (substitute Old Grand-Dad Bonded Bourbon), .75 ea Campari (sub Forthave Red Aperitivo) & rosso vermouth (Mazzini), spiked with 2d of Miracle Mile Chocolate-Chili Bitters.
(Okay okay, it’s just a Boulevardier.) #StarTrek
All right, I’m gonna get drunk and eat pizza now.
Post-debate Rum Manhattan. Ed Hamilton Beachbum Berry Zombie rum (59%). Mazzini vermouth rosso. J.M. Cacao Bitters. DeGroff Pimento Allspice Bitters. Good. Does the job. Maybe a fruitier vermouth if I need another one of these.
Fancy dinner, ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED! Last Sunday at Rossoblu. It’s been a few months since I quit the site formerly known as Twitter, and finally cashed in my reward dinner. (1/3)
Now this today… a beloved fixture in the Los Angeles bar community just passed suddenly, and on their family business page Meta’s bullshit LLM program “explains” to us that we’re sad about it. I despise them.
