I used to work in imaging science. AI is great for learning how to spot tumours so the trained professionals can go straight to looking at the right bit of the imaging scan. Imaging advances are saving lives every day

The "Play La Marseillaise" scene is one of the most hard-hitting cinema sequences ever. A lot of the extras were channeling their own WW2 experiences there. Those tears were real. What an amazing film. Must have easily watched over 30 times.

People really don't get that their GLOWING SCREEN is a terrible distraction to people behind them! It's horrible! Protip: Bring a small laser pointer to the theater. If someone does this, shine the dot on their screen. A laser pointer clicks off instantly, and they can't tell where it came from.

I went to see Furiosa tonight (Late, I know, I know) and I had to tell a guy to put his phone away during the beginning of the movie! AND he was a middle-aged man so he didn't even have the excuse of not knowing movie etiquette! AND he called me uptight!

The #1 way to prevent abortions is to provide good sex education and birth control. A close second is to provide high-quality pregnancy care, neonatal care, and support for parents via $$ and childcare. Alas, in the USA, the people against abortion access are also against the rest of that stuff.

It’s interesting to see people’s reactions when they ask you about something and you say you don’t feel like you know enough about it to have an opinion. They sort of blink and say “oh”, as if they’ve never considered needing to learn more before forming an opinion on something.

"I'm not obliged to say anything about any subject at all" has been an extremely freeing mantra. Said this in an interview once when asked about some drama or other: "I don't know enough about that to comment." It COMPLETELY took interviewer by surprise. She didn't know how to respond 🤣

If you get covid, test every day after you test negative to catch the rebound. I was neg for days then got a whisper of a pos line. I started avoiding people, and in 18 hours I got sick and turned big positive. Everyone I know who got this variant has rebounded from 3 to 11 days afterwards.

I think the solution is not to start with the 14th Amendment, but just attack Republicans for wanting a national ban on abortion and contraception. Let them explain - if you're explaining, you're losing. Still would be good to address the 14A argument simply for secondary discussion.

We have to figure out a simple way to say this.

There are times when I get mad Gen X got completely overshadowed by Boomers, and we'll never get to have a president from our generation. And there are times I remember what my generation is like, and I'm glad we'll be skipped.

THIS. Large, automated, data processing has a lot of good use-cases. "Replacing art" is not one of them. Yet the dim-bulbs who created ChatGPT and Midjourney and their ilk think they made something of value.

The core problem is that people, whether accidentally, deliberately, or through misunderstanding, conflate "generative large language models" such as ChatGPT and the like with all forms of machine learning and call them all "AI", and it makes people transfer their animus for the former to it all.
