It's true that I am not seeing anyone I know in the fray. It's also true that we're all on edge and frustrated by everything since 2016 at the very least, & I would encourage us to build community, volunteer/donate, and read a ton of books instead of lashing out at people you agree with a lot.

I get that! I'm more talking about people who feel the need to explicitly declare they **definitely** don't like romance novels or Taylor Swift or whatever women and teen girls are into. They think they are clever and smart but are actually dull and regressive.

I would argue that if you are viscerally opposed to romance novels, in a way you are not by, say, mysteries, it may be a fun introspection moment about misogyny! You don't have to like things mostly women like, but I have big side eye for folks who feel the need to declare their dislike.

Thread. The argument that you're going to defeat capitalism by pirating the work creative people make is obnoxious. It's not going to end capitalism, you're just going to insure that artist has less wherewithal to create the art you want (but don't want to pay for). Foot, shoot, etc.

Look, I’ve made it a practice to not care about individuals pirating my books, and to make my books available DRM free everywhere possible, for a lot of reasons, including my not actually caring and also not having any executive function.

I worked at a small indie publisher and every cent counted not just for the authors but for the rest of the workers who got a cut. Often we'd see hundreds of free downloads off a pirating site, and maybe 10 sales. So I kind of hate pirating books and I don't think stealing from artists is very good.
