A punch to the gut. Evan was unnecessarily kind when I was just starting out. He was a source for one of my first stories, and was admirably frank about the trauma he battled from being put in an abusive rehab facility as a kid. A journalist's journalist, and a hell of a writer. RIP.

“Fortunate Son” might have become a cliche, but anyone who dismisses it out of hand from overuse as filmic shorthand for Vietnam should listen to it once, very loud, in isolation. I’d say while driving, but you might get a speeding ticket.

I feel the same way about the lyrics of Born to Be Wild. I feel like it has the coolest lyrics of all time but the song will never not feel worn out & extremely cheesy. When you think of them in isolation tho. like "fire all of your guns at once and explode into space" makes me want to throw a car
