A few months ago a FUNBAG reader asked if I cared when I used the family barf bowl as just a normal cooking bowl when it was off duty, and I said no. But ever since then, anytime I’ve cooked with the barf bowl, I’ve thought to myself okay yeah this bothers me

you can say a lot of things about me but i have never used the phrase "cooked with the barf bowl"

my grandpa was the best, kindest man I've ever known and I am lucky enough to be named for him (my middle name is Emilia, his name was Emilio) :)

my grandpa passed in 2009 but during his lifetime he helped found an orphanage in Piedras Negras, Coahuila and every year my family would spend a weekend diligently sorting, portioning and packing up bulk food that he would then drive down and give to the sisters at the orphanage

my mom always said "he never met a stranger" and i like to think i have a little of that in me too

my grandpa was the kindest person I have ever met and if I can do a fraction of the good he did I will be completely happy

it wasn't until i grew up that i realized what an insanely cool thing that was for him to do

maybe i become obsessed with this now bc i looked it up and it's still operational

way back in my family tree i found a lady named "Roxy Jones" and I was struck by what a great name that is and then i found her full name and it was Roxilla. absolutely iconic

this lady was from my distant Louisiana family so I'm assuming she must have been cool as fuck
