Serious question: is it wrong to take all of these #doctorwho novels from a little free library? (I donate on average a dozen books a month to LFLs, but don't want to be greedy.)
Avatar
seems fine, maybe pass them along when you're done if you don't want em
Avatar
If you can provide an equal number of equivalently entertaining books, and return them to the LFL when you’re done (maybe even tied in a package because Who books are kinda like good potato chips in that they’re more satisfying as a group) I’d say it’s fine! Leaving it empty is the party foul.
Avatar
I think it's fine! Esp if you always put in more than you take out. They'll be lonely if they don't come as a set
Avatar
I say go for it but try to come back and put a similar number of books in because (unless there are other shelves) it would leave this LFL bare.

they will go to an appreciative reader! I'm sure you have other books around you can contribute to keep the karmic balance.
Avatar
It will make it bigger on the inside.
Avatar
But more seriously maybe bring a book or two later?
They're a set, one thing. Just don't leave it empty for long :)
Avatar
My rule is always take-one-leave-one, so I’d leave a stack of them in exchange.
Avatar
They belong together. Especially if you usually leave more, you're good.
Avatar
Nope. As long as you support the overall FLL ecosystem - and it sounds like you do - then it’s absolutely fine. They are going to an appreciative home.
Avatar
They’re just there for somebody to find and love them and that sounds like you.
Avatar
Not wrong. FWIW I took inspiration from a local used book store and lightly tie sets together with string to indicate it's not wrong to take a whole trilogy or whatever. (Less of an issue with serials but who wants to hit a LFL and find books 2 and 3 only anyway?)
Avatar
My LFL is geared to a younger audience because of the kids in my neighborhood. But if someone were to take a big chunk of the books in there I’d be delighted. I often stop by the used book store and pick up a new batch of books once a month or so. I’m just happy kids are reading instead of scrolling

One benefit people get from having LFLs is "Book Shelf Space" and if you take those books, you will be giving the proprietor even more opportunities to reclaim space on their shelves.
Avatar
As someone with a LFL, go for it! I'll just find more to put in there! You've built up the karma credit.
Avatar
I suspect that whoever put them there as a set would be highly pleased to see them taken as a set.
Avatar
only wrong if you don't read them.
Avatar
I have a LFL and I'd be thrilled if someone took a series! I keep a tote of books in my house to refill from, and that'd be less books in my house. Basically, don't assume it'll be empty for very long if you take a bunch. It'll just look popular.
Avatar
I presume you'd return them when you finished reading them.
Avatar
Avatar
I think, yes, it is fine. I mean, they are there for that reason, right?
Avatar
Take them all and don't feel bad about it.
Avatar
They're only all in there because not everyone wants them as much as you do.
Avatar
Take them but put new books in their place.
Avatar
Of course, that's a given.
Avatar
Unless you live in a very cool neighborhood, those were put in as a set, so it's rude to break up the siblings. If you want an equivalent exchange, you should toss in another series... incomplete if you're nasty
Avatar
I vote for take, and keep leaving books. LFL’s are FOR taking books from!
Avatar
I like to think they were left there for you, specifically

I choose to believe that Frozen book is a Doctor Who crossover.
Avatar
In which Kristoff discovers he's really Rogue?
Avatar
Yes. (I don’t know the characters, but yes.)
Avatar
Kristoff is the character Jonathan Groff voices in Frozen.

Avatar
This is a real "Wait, I'm the hot single in my area" moment You're the person those were left for
Avatar
Take them and read them. The person who put them there will walk by and see they are all gone and it will bring a smile to their face knowing the books found a good home.
Avatar
Come right back with an equal number of GOOD paperbacks, not just "I didn't like it so I'm gonna dump it" paperbacks. That would be fair.
Avatar
I wouldn't even have hesitated. Those are *rare* and you'll cherish them.
Avatar
I'm amazed they got dumped in a Little Free Library!
Avatar
Avatar
I would take them and just be sure to bring your next donation batch to that same library to fill the empty space back in.
Avatar
I fully support this decision. They will be loved. Best possible outcome.
Avatar
They all look to be Missing Adventures, and that line was a lot of fun. Take, but return the ones you don't like.
Avatar
Or! Take, but then leave a Doctor Who book you enjoyed previously but don't read anymore at your earliest opportunity.
Avatar
My thought w these libraries is this is where we put books we want to get rid of and don't want to put in the recycling bin. You don't have to return them. No one wants to see the same shit when they stop by again. Just donate some other books some other time.
Avatar
No mention of Pizza for Everyone?
Avatar
Take ‘em. They need your love
