new york times columnists do not get to tell you what to do. fuck these people, they hope you'll apply to clean their toilets at less than prevailing wage and on a 1099. everyone telling you not to vote for joe biden is doing so because they want to stick their hands in your pockets.

here's the other thing about this: i have no real power to determine this, and neither do you. but i would walk through hell barefoot and back again to vote for a democratic corpse before i'd ever consider a) not voting, or b) voting for donald trump. this matters to me, it should matter to you.

July 5, 1980 The parking lot at the new USFS Mount St. Helens info center in Ridgefield was full all 4th of July weekend. Visitors can watch a tape of the eruption, see a seismograph, and take a photo of the peak. Another center is slated to open north on Hwy. 12, east of I-5.

When I was in grade school my teachers told me that in America anybody can be the President. I thought they were being aspirational. I didn't realize they were pointing to a inherent flaw in the system.

while I appreciate that larger, more recent diffusion architectures render text relatively accurately, they never have quite the same charm as the older messy mangled-text generations.

the “some folks just need killing” thing out of north carolina reminds me of a third thing these annoying people are right about: as long as the republican bloodlust grows and their power is unbroken, every election probably will be the most important one of your life

sometimes the most annoying people in politics can be right. the orange man is indeed bad. if you vote, you shouldn’t vote for republicans under any circumstances, which typically leaves one option

If you every doubt the existence of patriotism in America, go to a citizenship swearing-in ceremony. Mine was in a courthouse in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

just watched 74 people speaking at least a dozen different languages become american citizens in a ceremony at monticello, where the speakers were themselves children of immigrants. inspiring stuff and a vivid illustration of what reactionaries want to snuff out
