That’s odd that that tag is used there. “Failed verification” is for statements with citations, where the text is unsupported, not for general “Citation needed” uses.
Source #30 is this WaPo article and it calls him "brash and bombastic", but not quick-witted or ruthless. I suspect it was originally given as the citation for the whole sentence, and some editor had fun failing the verification of the missing adjectives. www.washingtonpost.com/video-games/...
