There’s a presidential candidate who organized a coup on live TV and was recently convicted of dozens of felonies for something entirely separate, and the political system is demanding his opponent step down.

I feel like the "Biden's age" narrative is an attempt to insert drama into a presidential race that supposedly lacks it, and I think "will this be the last democratic election" or "will it be illegal to sell me food" or "will any of us be alive next year" are all perfectly dramatic questions.

it is extremely curious and telling that there’s no legacy mass media outlet left that mostly just publishes stuff with a normie lib angle - which is what I suspect most Democrats who read newspapers and magazines actually want
It’s really a shame that nobody has gone after a left of center media audience. Not a far left or anything even that spicy. Just a basic lib audience

Happy #primeweek! I just want to let y’all know that the Amazon shipping warehouse where my husband works is denying workers fans during a nationally recognized heat emergency and everything you order during time week places workers’ lives at risk.

I have no idea the best path re Biden but I do know a solid week straight of “Biden Old” and “Rich Dems Worried” above-the-fold stories are *obscene* in the face of SCOTUS using the Constitution to wipe their asses purely in the service of reinstating a felon rapist as president. Crazy-making shit.

IDK kind of feels like we should be paying more attention to a prominent conservative think tank saying we're in the midst of a second american revolution that will remain bloodless as long as long as the left lets it be, then whether or not Biden should step down.

I want everyone to think about what Trump will do with explicit absolute immunity from prosecution and the full power of the presidency of the United States of America those are the stakes in November, full stop
look i'll be clear, I will be voting, and encouraging everyone I know to do the same, against donald trump and the end of democracy in this country in november. I do not care if that means i'm voting for a man who is literally dead.

Is this an election for middle school prom king? "Likability" is mostly a function of positive media coverage. Harris is "unlikable" because the political media won't tolerate a competent, smart black woman. And especially conservative media wants their viewers to believe she is the antichrist.

I found myself getting really angry while reading Rahimi (a decision in which the court did the obviously right thing) and then it clicked: the Roberts Court doesn't try to create an intelligible and useable doctrine.

Important to remember that it's not that these 6 justices have a different method, it's that they're full of it. The 14th and 15th amendments were passed to ban racial discrimination, and they explicitly authorize the Voting Rights Act. All were intended to block racial discrimination in the South.

The Supreme Court Stephen Breyer served on handed George W. Bush the White House, gutted the Voting Rights Act, overturned Roe v Wade, and invited corporations to flood our elections with cash. It was a tool wielded by America's political minority to impose their will on the rest of us. As friends!

“Is it technically fascism?” “Is it technically rape?” “Is it technically genocide?” Remarkable the smug ease with which so many people have replaced moral inquiries with semantic ones.

A majority of the U.S. public supports laws that protect trans adults against discrimination in several areas, from housing to health care. Support for these policies also holds ACROSS party lines.
“massively unpopular”? Eight in ten trans adults (79%) and six in ten cisgender adults (62%) support trans children between the ages of 10 and 14 having accessing gender-affirming counseling.

The 14th amendment's prohibition on insurrectionists gaining high office is a hell of a lot more clear than whatever the 2nd amendment says about guns. Maybe Congress should have to specifically enforce the 2nd Amendment in order for it to have effect.

Just found this 2020 NYT obit for Charles Wetli, the guy who invented excited delirium. He claimed a series of deaths of black sex workers were caused by a condition unique to black women in which they just drop dead after mixing sex & cocaine. They were actually murdered by a serial killer.
Charles Wetli, Medical Examiner for T.W.A. Flight 800 Crash, Dies at 76 (Published 2020)www.nytimes.com Families blamed him for not identifying the victims fast enough, but in the end, he “put a name on every bit of human remains recovered.”

LGBT rights? It's about liberty, for them to live their lives. Abortion? About liberty, and the right for women to decide. Migrants? It's also about liberty. Ukraine? That too is about liberty and letting them decide their future. On all of these issues, Rs are opposed to liberty. Frame it that way

I think a lot about how one of the most straightforward ways that people can honor the memory of the Holocaust victims is by enthusiastically welcoming refugees, asylum seekers and immigrants to our countries — and how rare it is to see that moral stance represented in even liberal politics today.
Not only, but not least, obscene because these people oppose immigration and support inhumane crackdowns on asylum seekers— that is, they want a world people fleeing persecution don't have anyplace to flee *to*.

From “technically it isn’t fascism” to “technically it wasn’t an insurrection” to “technically it’s not a genocide,” our intellectuals are really making a bold show of their commitment to sophistry and semantics above any meaningful confrontation with the realities of their time.

I don't blame individuals for succumbing to this kind of madness. You can only lurk on fandom subreddits for so long before it overcomes you. But you'd think that the *core* competency of an opinion editor would be the ability to assess the quality of evidence and the appropriateness of an argument
