One thing about this election that keeps getting lost in all the catastrophizing and doomerism is that every election cycle where we stop the GOP from abolishing democracy makes future elections easier for us, as the GOP’s base of old white people keeps dying.

Yes. We honestly need to be even a little cornier about this. Democracy is good. One person one vote is good. A society where people of all faiths, genders, sexualities, ethnicities, and nationalities get on productively together in peace is great. Flush your doom pills and cynic pills down the loo.

Not to be corny but I do think the ongoing aspiration to make America a pluralist democracy of equals is righteous, beautiful, and worth honoring, even if it has more often been the struggle of minorities & dissenters than the policy of the government. 🇺🇸
