Wow: “If you grow an acre of corn, it will produce 900 gallons of ethanol, which will get you about 25,000 miles for a Ford F-150...which is, not bad I guess. But let’s say we put solar on that same acre. It will produce enough electricity every year to drive my Lightning 550,000 miles.”

Instead of supporting trans people by harassing strangers, support trans people by supporting trans people. For instance, buying their books and reading their stories. Hey look, a thread!
On that note: Trans authors (I mean authors who are trans, NOT cis people who write about trans people), drop your book links here and I'll try to repost as many as I can throughout the day. Cis people: Repost trans authors' book links. Cis people who want to complain about being excluded: gtfo

A few years ago, Jon Lovett floated a theory that media treats Democrats like protagonists - to be challenged, accounted, and forced to be behave in growth-oriented ways - while the GOP are treated like antagonists - immutable, expected to disrupt, thematic obstacles. Thinking about that a lot.
I don’t recall the NYT calling for Trump to step down after being convicted of 34 counts of fraud and being called by a judge at his civil trial a rapist in the common person sense

This was excellent. Something maddening about AI, a technology with only marginally useful applications that is severely damaging the environment, is that all the "scholarship" about its value is somewhere between "seems a little threadbare" and "nakedly corrupt and fraudulent." Really rotten times.
TODAY: @mariabustillos.bsky.social on the fun little paper that asks, aren’t human writers more environmentally taxing than AI? “ A question worth asking for sure, if you didn’t already know the premise is predicated on total garbage.” flaminghydra.com/r/14802716?m...

I no longer think they believed this or cared about cost. It was about control. Conservatives got to exert power by denying necessary change. There is nothing more important to them than this.

"Bluey" succeeds because it's for kids & parents. Studios & execs want to remove every joke or any reference they think kids won't understand. It creates bland soulless programs parents hate to co-watch. Don't talk down to kids. Challenge them! They'll rise to the occasion.
