This is... amazing to know, actually, as someone who randomly gets migraines with visual aura from random academic article PDFs. Especially makes sense why certain letter combinations are particularly aura'd. I might try to see about OCR'ing and changing fonts when I have that.
Brains are weird!
I know I've said it before but it bears repeating: I really appreciate how you take complex legal/philosophical concepts and condense them into a format of very few words that makes tons of sense.
Here are the bears repeating: 🐻🐻🐻
"But! Before you go know this!"
But I did not want to know this. I am already outside, down the street, in line to get lunch. There's a breeze and a bird lands on my shoulder. "You're good at capitalism," it says. Thanks, bird. I know.
Yeah I take it as a good sign that I'm following folks I want to be following that the most of what I saw was along the lines of "everyone chill" before I knew what to chill about. Helped me be emotionally prepared for just about anything.
I have a theory: it's because in games you inhabit the character and make their choices, so you develop a parasocial relationship with the IP and the character; and people who identify as gamers are predisposed toward parasocial relationships anyway because they're not so good at real ones.
I recommend keeping a basket in the kitchen as a laundry hamper. Great for kitchen towels, cloth napkins, and more (our kitchen is close-ish to the front door, so kids' muddy outer layers end up there, too, rather than tracked to their rooms.)
We watched a movie the other night and when there was a (very chaste at a wedding) kiss, my 8-year-old declared that he "wasn't allowed" to watch movies like that and left the room 🤣
Today I broke open a gallon tub of peach poppers (those fruit syrup exploding bubbles from bubble tea and ice cream shops) and now I have to refrigerate them but I will need room in the fridge soon oh no what shall I do I am so concerned
Me: heck yeah I'm gonna go into a field where I can effect change through the legal and political systems!
Me: Oh fuck oh fuck now I have to pay attention to the legal and political systems around us
(This post brought to you by my desire to bury my head in the sand just for a few days.)
Teaching the constant changes in labor law precedent between administrations can be challenging. It must be nice to teach a subject with settled interpretations, like Con Law or Admin Law.
WE remember the convenience pitches, but sanitation/hygiene/health pitches were VERY common at the time:
Our Brand Won't Kill You
Thanks to SCOTUS we'll find out empirically, again, which brands of food will kill us.
